This is Samdee, our local guide for @thegibbonexperience in the Bokeo forest of Northern Laos. He was part of the team that helped build the zip lines in the rainforest. “How?” Was a question we all asked. If you’ve zip-lined here you’ll understand why this is such an amazing feat. It looks almost impossible to carry up the mountains by human hands. Trekking alone to the mountain tops is a difficult task, let alone with hundreds of pounds of metal rope. But there’s no magic here, just pure blood, sweat and tears. With up to 10kg of zip line rope per person, teams will trek for hours, carrying the immense weight of the rope, high into the mountains where it is then secured onto its host tree. You’ll appreciate it when you’re flying high above the mountains. 📍Houay Xay, Laos .

A late night view over the glacier we are about to cross in the morning. Spotting the lines, because crossing a glacier is not your average walkabout. It's a bit like a maze , a maze of crevasses.
Some of which run almost a 100m down. This glacier is thick! And is full of black debris and ashes from volcanic eruptions of the nearby and famous eyjafjallajökull. The volcano who caused an air traffic stand still in the whole north Atlantic region.
Arriving in Lukla (rated as the most dangerous airport in the world for over 20 years), heading up to our first stop Phakding (2652m). A good few hrs trek walking through villages sharing the trail with Sherpas and their Yaks. Following day the trail parallels the Dudkhosi River crossing the suspension bridge (😱) over the confluence of Bhotekoshi and Dudhkoshi. After 8 hrs of stunning views and hurting legs we reached Namche Bazaar (3440m). 🙏🏽🏔✨ #nepal#everest#travel#trekking

It's difficult to describe the moment I reached the summit of Mt. Everest, 8848m, the 16th of May at 09:45 AM. It was a mixed feeling of extreme happiness and relief, but simultaneously the thoughts of the upcoming and partly dangerous descent were swirling around in my head.
Unfortunately, these contradictions made it difficult to really enjoy the breathtaking view I got an entire hour to examine, but I tried my best with my left foot in Tibet and my right in Nepal 😊🏔 Our experienced team leaders, Pasang, Mingma and Tshering, found a short summit window and with the assistance of our very strong team of sherpas, we made it right in time as one of the first teams on the summit this season. A special thank you to my summit companion, Yutka 🤗
Despite the fact that I had lost my voice, I made it safely all the way back to Norway with no injuries and have now started the training to get back in shape and ready for new adventures 🙌
Similarly, I am grateful to all the people, either strangers, friends or family, who have believed in me and supported the project. A special thank you to @ingridandreahj for endless patience and @andreasebbesen for countless phone calls and his takeover of the Social Media-platforms during the offline periods 🙏 -
