Meet Mary and Hana, a mother and daughter team who volunteered and worked with us in Texas and North Carolina! “Working with my mom was such a special experience. I attribute so much of what has shaped me into the person I am today to the values she instilled in me growing up. Volunteering and working in the community has always been a passion we share. I truly feel that I have become the passionate and caring person that I am today because of [her].” What an incredible experience to share with your mom! With Mother’s Day coming up we want to honor all the moms and mother figures in our lives. Take a chance to do something different, sit down with them and apply to volunteer or donate today! We’re just one click away (link in bio).

Today we celebrate teachers and educators who dedicate so much of themselves to others. Beth Knight is principal at Gift Hill Lower Campus in St. John, USVI. After Hurricanes Irma and Maria, the community came together to help each other. "The students and staff participated in many activities in hopes to encourage the students to talk about their experience in order to learn, understand, and cope with what has happened...'We started every morning in the great room as a group, first just holding hands together and just assuring everybody that we are going to make it through this.'" Thank you to all the teachers who give strength and support to their students, ensuring they have a bright future. To read more of this story follow the link in our bio!

Community Led Projects (CLP) in Nepal have provided further resources for two of the schools we've worked on this year. Here, one community member works on the Shree Ma Vi school. The team completed pouring half of the irrigation canal and started laying bricks on the water mill. We're almost done!
Have you worked on this school?! If so comment below, let's celebrate together!

We recently finished working on the home of Stephanie Edwards, which was flooded with six inches of water as a result of Hurricane Florence. In addition to executing a four-foot gut, we repaired rotted subfloor and replaced all outlets and boxes, installed new lower cabinets in her kitchen, insulated her home, installed drywall, installed new bathroom vanities, and saved her shower/bathtubs/toilets! She now has a safe, functional, and sanitary home! Thank you to everyone who helped on this project! To make an impact like this you can volunteer with us via the link in our bio!

A huge thank you to our donors, partners, staff, and volunteers who helped support project St. Thomas! Your combined efforts in the last 20 months allowed us to impact over 6,000 residents, and we couldn’t have done it without you 💜
Though St. Thomas has wrapped up we'd love for you to join us on another program. Visit the link in our bio for more information.

Our partners @Airbnb made a big announcement yesterday which will help many affected by natural disasters! In the U.S., hosts will now be able to donate a portion of their Airbnb earnings to help communities in times of need find temporary housing. “Many hosts in our community are eager to help when a crisis hits, but, for a variety of reasons, might not be able to open their homes for free. We developed this donations tool to give them a straightforward way to make an impact,” says Airbnb’s Co-founder and Chief Product Officer, Joe Gebbia. “We hope that through the company’s contributions, the Open Homes program, and our hosts’ generous donations, we can extend belonging to those who are facing their darkest hour.” One-hundred percent of each donation will go to nonprofit partners. Our co-founder @pnemcova shares our hope "...that with Airbnb hosts’ donations, we’ll be able to help more individuals, families, and communities rebuild their homes, schools, and lives.” Learn more via the link in our bio!
