The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a lineage-based membership service organization for women who are directly descended from a person involved in the United States' efforts towards independence. They promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. The organization's membership is limited to direct lineal descendants of soldiers or others of the Revolutionary period who aided the cause of independence.
Since the late 20th century, following the civil rights movement and changes in historic scholarship, the organization has expanded its membership, recognizing minority contributions and expanding the definition of those whose work is considered to have aided the Revolution, and recognizing more ways in which women and other people served. In October 1977, Karen Batchelor Farmer (now Karen Batchelor) of Detroit, Michigan, was admitted as the first known African-American member of the DAR.
Since the mid-1980s, the DAR has supported a project to identify the names of African Americans, Native Americans, and individuals of mixed race who were patriots of the American Revolution, expanding their recognition beyond soldiers.
Memorial Continental Hall was commissioned by the DAR in 1902 to be used as a headquarters, assembly hall, and meeting place for DAR conferences. Architect Edward Pearce Casey designed the building, and construction occurred between 1904 and 1910. It was the first of three DAR buildings erected on the same site. The nearby Administration Building was built in 1920, and Constitution Hall was built at the opposite end of the site in 1929.
Memorial Continental Hall was the site of the Washington Naval Conference in 1921-22, a major diplomatic meeting in which the major powers of the world agreed to limit the sizes and capabilities of their naval forces. -

The gang and I nurtured our inner child yesterday with a day at Belmont Park in San Diego.
A round of mini golf, some carnival games, and a hearty BBQ meal were the perfect way to finish our time on the California coast.
Next stop: Vegas!

Conquering the “City of Stars” with KIDS ✨
Los Angeles was home to me for 8 years. I miss the drive through Topanga Canyon to the beach, the pretty blue skies lined with palm trees & the FOOD! LA has some of the yummiest little spots and coolest cafes!!
Today, up on the Well Traveled Mom, I’m sharing my favorite places to go with (and without 😉) kids! http://liketk.it/2AGrb #firstname.lastname@example.org
Here are some views from the cockpit of this monster machine. SWIPE ⬅️.
What an awesome trip this was. Truly a pleasure to have been able to take a private tour of this gold mine in Cripple Creek, CO.

Don't miss it in Los Angeles!
If you came for a couple of days, it is necessary to visit:
1️⃣ The Walk of Fame in Hollywood
2️⃣ The Dolby Theater (former Kodak) where the Oscar ceremony takes place every year
3️⃣ Go up on Hollywood plaza and walk around paths with stories about how celebrities made their way to Hollywood. At the end there is a bed with a view of the Hollywood hills. Under the bed is a revealing inscription about a real way to Hollywood😉(photo in the previous post)
4️⃣ Also take a look at Grauman's Chinese Theater (2 minutes away from all of the above) there are foot and hand prints of celebrities right by the entrance
5️⃣ Go to the Hollywood sign overlook to take some pictures with the iconic letters on the hills
6️⃣ If you want to know how celebrities live go to Beverly Hills
7️⃣ On a warm day visit Santa Monica to get some sun, walk or ride a bicycle on the boardwalk along the ocean. If you're with kids, you'll need the pier, because there you can find an attraction park
8️⃣ Venice beach is 3 kilometers from Santa Monica. This is the place where Arnold Schwarzenegger used to lift heavy weights. Now it's a popular tourist place. Weed is legal and you'll feel it in the air for sure. Only 5 minutes away there are quiet canals-streets of the Californian Venice
9️⃣ The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens are one of the best botanical gardens in the world, here plants from all over the world are grouped into their thematic zones. There is also the largest private collection of British portraits of XVIII century
🔟 If you have time go to the Universal Studio, for adults it's more interesting than the Disneyland
This statue, part of a larger monument: the US Maine National Monument located in Columbus Circle, is my favorite in New York City. When I was in college, I took an art history class that was about Michelangelo’s David and the influence it had on other artists. Right after I took that class, I went to NYC and saw this statue and the influences that he had on this artist especially with the hands. Now every time I come here I have to see it.
Nope! This is the Museum of Man in San Diego’s stunning Balboa Park.
While we didn’t have time to explore all 17 museums or the city’s famous zoo, I did enjoy being able to soak in the sun and the festive atmosphere at Balboa Park. What a gem!
Canada is a multicultural society whose ethnocultural make-up has been shaped over time by immigrants and their descendants. Each new wave of immigration has added to the nation's ethnic and cultural composition.
I think it's safe to say that I could never tire of this magnificent view😍
Just 20-30 minutes outside Denver, you'll find Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. During an evening when the Amphitheatre is packed full of concert goers, the incredibly unique venue that sits over 1 mile above sea level is a loud, vibing place with full intentions of providing one heck of an experience. During the day and when there are no concert performances, it's a place of exploration. The backside of Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre is a peaceful, scenic spot where life seems to almost stop, even if just briefly, and allows its explorers to truly be in the moment💙
