Japan travel assist #japantravel#localhangout#japan_vacations#japanrestaurants#japanabroad WABi SaBI took off to Kyoto for a day ! While walking around the cultural capital of Japan our first stop was at a castle followed by relaxation at the one and only Tatami style cafe we found while enjoying the striking charms of Kyoto streets , amidst the small traditional japanese lanes. The highlight of our trip was the 5 km. walking path , the beautiful narrow cobbled streets lit up with a lot of lanterns, faint lights that beautify the store fronts of the machi, soft lights that reflect off the stone pavements, lights swaying amongst the trees, white and earthen walls. We also saw dancing apprentice geishas, maiko dance and the mysterious fox’s wedding procession which happens twice a day during this event. The wedding procession has its roots in Japanese folklore – a woman wearing a white fox mask is carried on a rickshaw, and participating and seeing this procession is said to bring good luck.
You do feel an air of mystery surrounding the woman wearing the fox mask. The Ikebana Promenade and the abundant Ikebana arrangements together with decorating and making your own paper lanterns invite the visitor to an enchanting world. Local school children play wooden clappers, bells and drums and sing children songs watching the fire and walking through the “Lanterns and Flower Lane”. To end the day , we went to this beautiful Italian restaurant located in a quiet and quaint street of Gion, which was difficult to locate. This was a hidden gem with delicious food in a cozy atmosphere.
