It took me a while to get here. There is still LOTS to discuss and figure out. But I think it’s time: Let ‘em ride! Philly needs a bike park. Link to latest column in bio. Please give it a read.

Happy Birthday to the niece who inspires me to sing like no one is watching - or listening. ❤️ you @kirsten_thompson_ (And don’t @ me about the quality of the video. Some things are better left in the dark:)
Turned into an aisle at the Acme last night and was struck by the beauty in this scene. (I didn’t do it justice, but trust me.)
Just got a crash course in Philly #bikelife and I’m more convinced than ever that we have an opportunity to reach a community of young people, of recognizing some real talent right in our back yard - seriously, some of the stunts on dirt and ATV bikes are CRAZY - and maybe even creating some jobs/opportunities for people who are passionate about riding and want to find a compromise with the city that works for everyone. Talked to Councilmen Johnson and Jones today too, and they seem on board to exploring a bike park. Like for real this time🤞🏼 Maybe, someone mused, @meekmill could get involved - we could cal it the @meekmill bike park. 🤷🏼♀️ Bikers I talked to wondered if the city closes streets for certain events, if naked bike riders are allowed to ride...then why can’t they? “Maybe we should ride our dirt bikes naked,” one joked. Seriously, he was kidding. But they made some good points I’ll share in upcoming column.

Putting aside the legality of dirt bikes/ATV’s on Philly streets, I am fascinated by the obvious skill and artistry of some of the riders who rode to honor one of their own. Makes me think that we should have some sort of competitive ATV team/club in city. Lots of football/basketball teams in city. Why not a team/club for something they obviously love - and are really good at? Maybe a partnership between city and suburban/rural ATV park? I know that part of the thrill is riding on street/something forbidden...but there is so much potential to do something for young people in city, prep them for competitive sports, sponsorships - or just for fun. ***Got thoughts? Share them below. Looking to hear from as many people as I can for a potential column.***
So far this year, 3,632 people in Philly have been reported missing, per PPD. (I’m told most are located.) A new web show hosted by a former @fox29philly reporter @sergiocrueltv aims to highlight the stories of those that might otherwise get overlooked. Link to latest column in bio.
