First light of the early morning scouting with @iainrudkin in Antarctica to find a safe place to land the guests on board the M/V Ortelius with @oceanwideexp

My version of a 5 star resort. Anyone else prefer to sleep outside in nature instead of a hotel?
I was super stoked to test my new @kammok and @klymit gear in the cold. I'm one of those weirdos who prefers the cold climates to the tropical ones. It's probably why I've basically been married to Patagonia for so long. It's so hard to leave.
No two pieces of ice are the same. They're each individual from the other. From their size, their shape and even down the the very textures on the face of the ice...they are all different. They all have a story. #antarctica#bealpha#iceberg#ice#snow#winteriscoming

Show me those teeth you beautiful beast!
Leapord Seals are interesting little creatures. They're quite agressive to Kayaks, Zodiacs, Penguins ... But last I heard there have been no recorded attacks on humans. There are numerous accounts recorded where a Leapord Seal will actually try to feed divers Penguins. Sometimes live, sometimes already killed. It's an interesting behavior. @paulnicklen had such an encounter recently and goes in depth on his IG about his last experience. During my last trip with @oceanwideexp , we had a lot of opportunities to witness the wild behaviors of Leapord Seals, and I hope to begin to understand them more and more as I travel South.

I have never visited Antarctica in March until I went on my last trip with @oceanwideexp because I always stuck to the peak season with baby penguins and maximum sunlight hours. However, I absolutely fell in love with March on my last trip because it seemed to offer the best opportunities to get the soft morning lighting that brought out the fine details and colors of the scarred mountain faces and carved textures of the ice. Next time I get to pick my contract... I'm going for March!
Missing these Argentina sunsets. Hopefully, the plan is to leave Brazil tomorrow morning and start working my way to the West Coast. I was supposed to leave yesterday, except I made it 3km out of the shop and blew a coolant hose. Putting it all back together today.... a couple test drives... and off I go!

Is anyone else a bit of a gear nerd like me??
One of the perks to having a large audience on Instagram is the "ambassadorships". FREE SWAG!!! Now a days, you see all your favorite content creators promoting super cool gear you just NEED to get your hands on. However it's hard to trust the opinions of people because there's always some incentive behind it. "How much are they paying you to say that?" is probably a question that's comes to mind once or twice... I'm sure. I never wanted to be that person, and if you've followed me along for a while, you know that I don't plug any gear in my feed. I've turned down many offers for free stuff that I knew was trash because I never want to promote it. Any gear I've ever spoken about, including the ones I'm about to mention; have been carefully chosen by ME! I did my research. I searched for the best out there and made the connection. Everything I use in my van, everything I post on my IG is gear I believe in, companies I support and stuff I think my audience would love. I've also cut ties with a lot of companies because of this mentality where companies exploit content creators. The brands I am partnered with are all people I'm happy to work with. It's not just about promoting their gear. It's about using it, giving them feedback and then continuing to develop better gear for everyone who loves the outdoors. @kammok was my first ever "sponsor" when I had 541 followers, and I'll never forget them taking a chance on me. @klymit has been along for the ride for about as long as I've had my Kombi and have never left me cold sleeping outside and @katadyn_group has helped me with all my water filtration, cooking equipment and food supplies. @nomadixco is a small company not just making the dopest travel towels, but they're saving the planet while they do so. These companies have always been in my corner and I'll always be in theirs. I've never taken a dime from any of them to say what I'm saying and I never will because my opinions can't be bought.
