I spent 7 months in Indonesia in 2018. 7 months. I can say I used that time wisely.... I saw so much of Indonesia. Yet when I look at a map, I feel like I haven’t even scratched its surface. Indonesia consists of 17,508 islands, I have been to a grand total of 34. The world is so small yet at the same time it is overwhelmingly big.

Did you know @storyofsage dove in college and is an incredible diver? If you scroll back to some of his older posts you can see for yourself! Sage taught me how to backflip a few years back, and since then we’ve enjoyed finding places to huck some together during our travels. It’s been awesome catching up and traveling with him this past week:)

Basking in the sun as if she were opening for a scene in Broadway. Sometimes light just plays with you perfectly.

The past few days have been spent in the jungles of Vietnam exploring the under ground river systems. Caving in Vietnam is an other worldly experience.

His symmetry is imperfect yet he still stands tall amongst the tea fields. His imperfections don’t inhibit his daily tree routines. He stands tall in his uniqueness, and with each branch he proudly displays his leaves as they sway in the wind. Of all creation we are the only ones who tend to let imperfections inhibit us. There are lessons to be learned everyday, sometimes from those who can’t even speak. This day I looked up to Mr. tree, and it wasn’t just because of his height.

I remember as a kid me and my buddies had this swimming hole that we would go to every weekend. It was a fresh water spring with vibrant blue water and a tree that hung above perfectly for us to jump in. When we got tired of swimming there was a cave right next to it that we would play hide and seek in until one of us hit our heads and started bleeding. No one knew about this paradise except us, so we claimed it as ours.... It was our place and no one else’s. We went there almost every week for 5 years until my family moved.
A few years back I visited home and took my buddies back to our swimming hole. Now a bit older I was excited to get back to the place I had so many fond memories at. But this time it was different, when we arrived our small trail we had made years back was now quite big and there was trash floating down the stream fed from our swimming hole. To our dismay our beautiful swimming hole was full of people to the point that there was barely room to join in. There was trash everywhere and they had begun using our cave as a make shift trash can. Our tree we used to jump off had a giant board nailed into it that read “THE OASIS”. Oh, and we had to pay a fee to swim.... Sharing locations has always been a touchy subject for me. On one hand I love to see people get out and see new things and on the other I hate getting to places and it being overrun with tourists, sometimes even having any tourists at all. There’s something special about having a beautiful place all too yourself. I always lean towards the side of not sharing locations and letting people find them on their own. But when you do find a special place, an Oasis, take care of it, pick up some trash and be respectful. That very place could be a special one full of memories from someone else. Take care of it and you may be able to make some of your own. Our world is full of beautiful places like me and my buddies Oasis, let’s make sure that places like that don’t just disappear in our generation.
