Back in 1850, the Wharf area in Port Fairy was one of the busiest localities in the community. The Wharf was a central departure point in the state of Victoria for ships loaded up with wool, gold and wheat exports bound for Britain.
Today, it is still busy around the wharf with luxury yachts and weathered boats sitting in rows down the marina. If you like going for walks, exploring, sightseeing, or even just to relax this is perhaps the best place to see and experience Port Fairy.

Budj Bim National Park is a long dormant volcano. Budj Bim is the source of the Tyrendarra lava flow which extends over 50 kilometres to the southwest. It is central to the history of the Gunditjmara people.
Budj Bim National Park is Victoria's first co-managed national park. The park is managed by Gunditjmara Traditional Owners and Parks Victoria.
The park's tranquil crater lake and pleasant bushland surrounds make it a pleasant place for picnicking, camping and bushwalking. Nature trails follow the old crater rim.

Macarthur is the gateway to the beautiful Budj Bim National Park. The town is situated on the Eumeralla River (30 mins north of Port Fairy), where the Eumeralla pastoral run was settled in 1842. A road was formed between Port Fairy and Hamilton and a settlement created where it crossed the Eumeralla river. The township was named after Sir Edward Macarthur, administrator of Victoria in 1856. The local pub, the Eumeralla Inn was opened in 1852.
The land around Macarthur had fertile soil from the Budj Bim volcanic source and it was attractive to small farm holders during the 1860s to settle.

😎Camp at Budj Bim National Park 😎Explore a lava cave
😎Enjoy a picnic or barbecue
