The eastern side of the zion canyon. This is at the end of a short half a mile hike. Though short it offers a wide variety, be it walking through one of open caves, or daintily tredding the half a feet wide trails, or scrambling a little bit of rock. Currently, the road beyond the trail is closed for repair and will be at least another 3 weeks before it opens again. So don't drive from the west to get into the zion, you would have to turn back. Oddly, there are no signs anywhere about the road being closed till you get to the toll booths. @zionnps
We ‘warmed up’, per se, on a short canyoneering section west of tourist-central for Zion; no bus shuttles, excessive Easter family crowds, or uncertain Angel Landing climbers to deal with. 🥾
This lesser known jaunt is a real crowd pleaser.
The 38 degree water and intermediate thunderstorms storms kept us moving very quickly! Tomorrow we’re hoping for good permits, drysuits, and some long rapps.
