You body is a product of what you eat, what you fuel it with. For many years I was a gym rat, playing and excelling at a number of sports, but my nutrition was not helping my performance because 1) I was not educated nor did anyone teach me about it 2) I didn’t understand the connection between the two besides maybe lifting weights and drinking protein shakes 3) Realize what supplementation and recovery could do for your body. I basically worked myself into the ground, which got me results and success reaching the pinnacle of my sport. I fell asleep 😴 early last night(didn’t plan to), so here’s the post I would have made last night. I will do one later for today. I don’t really struggle at all with this part of the #shred10 (eliminating caffeine). I know some people have to have their coffee, tea, drinks, etc with caffeine in it in order to function. Looking at some of the things caffeine can do to the body, some might not like it

I know, I know we’re all busy, but we all have 20 minutes a day...am I right🤷🏽♀️ 💚Those 20 minutes we spend scrolling social media📱 💚Those 20 extra minutes of sleep we might think we need in the morning⏰ 💚That 20 minute power nap we take in the afternoon...ok, ok who really takes afternoon naps😴...and did you know exercise can actually boost your energy levels or at least it does for me😜 💚20 minutes during our lunch hour...it doesn’t take THAT long to eat lunch🌮 💚Or maybe the 20 minutes while supper is in the oven, the Instant Pot, or the air fryer (my fav)🍗 The workout program a few (hundred) others and I are starting on Monday is 20 minute workouts with or without a step 6 days a week...so doable, right? I’m in much better shape physically today than I was 10 years ago (and I’ve always been active). Ten years ago I was mainly running...fast forward to now, I mainly cross train and strength train with other cardio work than strictly running... all in the comfort of my own home...and I think my body approves💪🏽

So in 2018 I must admit I was busy worry about how everyone else in my life was doing. Making sure they were all comfortable. But what I really was doing was stretching myself thin and not taking care of my own self. I was not eating right and constantly sick. The funny thing about not putting yourself first, you think you are being selfish but what you really don’t know is that you cannot give what you don’t have yourself. You cannot give love unless you love yourself first. You can’t focus on taking care of anyone unless you first are cared for. Think about what they tell you when you board a plane, place your oxygen mask on first before attempting to place the mask on your loved ones. 2019 will be different. It has to be. First lesson though, the recipe called for rice flour but I used coconut flour. Turns out that coconut flour is super absorbant and so you either need not as much as other flour, or extra liquids. This explains why they were so tricky to roll!! 😁

I will always have type 1 diabetes. THERE IS NO CURE. No matter how much I exercise or eat healthy. BUT my sugar levels are better than ever. A1C number better than a non diabetic. I use 80% less insulin than I use to. Back problems? Knee problems? Always tired etc. GONE. For me, it was never about looking "sexy". Yes, that's a plus. It was about being healthy to be able to bare children. Have healthy children and live long enough to see grandchildren. Some people aren't living, they're merely existing. Sugar addiction: this is difficult to eliminate(this is part of the #shred as well). This was one of the hardest things for me to do in the very beginning when I first started this lifestyle change

Ich habe sehr lange überlegt, ob ich mich trauen soll, bestimmte Themen auf Instagram anzusprechen bzw. meine Gedanken darüber zu posten. Nachdem mir in letzter Zeit viele Dinge passiert sind, die mich sehr zum Nachdenken gebracht haben, habe ich beschlossen, dass es auf jeden Fall einen Versuch wert ist es mal zu versuchen und damit über meinen Schatten zu springen, denn man kommt nur weiter, wenn man seine Komfortzone auch mal verlässt.
Ich möchte mit diesem Post ein bisschen provozieren, zum Nachdenken anregen und hoffentlich der ein oder anderen Person ein gutes Gefühl geben.
Findest du deinen Körper perfekt so wie er jetzt gerade ist?
Viel zu viele Menschen antworten auf diese Frage mit einem „Nein!“. Ich war auch lange Zeit eine Person, die so geantwortet hätte. Allerdings hat sich an meiner Einstellung zu meinem Körper sehr viel geändert.
In meinem Kopf hatte sich ein bestimmtes Bild von einem perfekten Körper abgebildet. Ich wollte, dass mein Körper schlank ist, man ein bisschen Muskeln sieht, keine Dellen oder Falten zu sehen sind, große Brüste hat und ein praller Hintern sollte auch noch da sein. So wie das Schönheitsideal heutzutage halt einfach aussieht.
Vor Kurzem stand ich vor dem Spiegel und hab meinen Körper wie sehr oft mit genau diesem vorgegebenen Ideal verglichen, bis es auf einmal klick gemacht hat und ich mich gefragt habe, warum ich meinen Körper nicht mag und wann ich eigentlich angefangen hatte dieses bestimmte Körperideal schön zu finden. Ich war kurz wie in Trance, weil mir auffiel, dass ich meinen Körper schön finde wie er ist und ich mir nur eingeredet habe wie das Schönheitsideal aussehen zu müssen, um das Gefühl zu haben anderen zu gefallen und gemocht zu werden. Unsere Welt ist mittlerweile so oberflächlich geworden, dass man glaubt nur oder mehr gemocht und akzeptiert zu werden, wenn man „gut“ aussieht. Durch diese Einstellung schaden wir uns ungemein selbst. Wir erkennen nicht mehr, was unser Körper alles tut, damit es uns gut geht. Er verschließt einfach so offene Wunden und macht Knochen wieder ganz. Er lässt dich nicht ersticken, während du schläfst. (weiter geht's in den Kommentaren)

Did you know that overtraining raises your cortisol levels and might make you gain weight, causes changes in moods and sleeping patterns, can negatively impact libido, leads to muscle wasting and decreased strength, raises inflammation and lowers immunity, can cause heart damage. These are just a few examples why its important to rest and take days off from the gym. So don’t feel guilty when you have days where you absolutely do nothing, it’s actually really good for you:) .
