Why pursue my 500 hour yoga teacher training certification now?
So many of my peers have found yoga to counter balance the rat race / stress of corporate America.
The way I see it, it makes more sense for me to do what I love now. Make choices that result in happiness now. After all, nothing is promised.
And in the words of my super smart beautiful friend @meackaway (HAPPY BIRTHDAY BTW), “why be sad when you can be happy?”.
Supine twist | Yoga and I are having a love-in! 💕 I adore supine twists - it’s such a gorgeous and light twist - in anatomy we’ve touched on ‘organ yoga’ and this is so beneficial for your digestive system 🙌 Simple yet so effective. I’m very happy it’s in the hatha sequence I’m currently learning 😍 Have cropped out my hand as is becoming my trademark camera work! #supinetwist#reclinedspinetwist#organyoga

🌊Water is fluid, soft, and yielding, but water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong. ~ Lau Tzu

If you’re just learning how to get upside down, try out some of these exercises to build your strength and body awareness upside down!
Here are some key tips:
- spin the inner creases of your elbows forward
- FULLY extend your arms - aka push the floor away from you as much as you can
- core strength: close your ribs think hollow body form
- TWERK TO MAKE IT WERK (pelvic articulation): train your back muscles to arch and curl your low back to help stack hips over shoulders
- leg engagement: engage your legs by squeezing to center - build shoulder strength by shifting forward and back (stacking hips on shoulders)
- keep arms straight
- keep gaze between wrists/fingers
- and keep practicing!
These are some of the main cues for beginner handstands that have helped me most, but I’d love to know:
What challenges are you finding when you go upside down?

Hi! I am going to be teaching you how to work toward and do weird asanas or postures!
I’ll be filming videos 10 mins long or less (bc I don’t have a check mark and can’t do more) to teach you the steps you need to take to build the strength and/or range needed and a step by step on how to get into these odd asanas/shapes.
I have a few in mind already but would love for you to tell me what you want to learn!
Either drop a comment here with a pose name, or @ me on someone’s picture of inspiration.
The weirder the better! #makingshapesandtakingnames

As I went through my flow this morning, I was inspired to share what yoga means to me, and why I continually come back to my mat for more.
Many things always come to mind but among these one thing is usually very clear: I wanted something in my life that provided me with discipline.
Yoga grows, yoga builds up and I grow and build up within my practice on the mat and off the mat everyday. Sometimes a position that seemed hard at first can suddenly appear, but the reality is, it was not a sudden occurrence, instead, it was just the result of try, after try, after try.
