I spy with my little eye... LOADS of parkrun barcodes pinned to my whiteboard!!! 😂 There they are.. just waiting to be left behind.. I also spy my parkrun bracelet.. clearly this photo wasn’t taken last Saturday when I forgot BOTH!!! Iv since gone and grabbed the paper barcodes and popped one in the back of phone case, ready for when I inevitably forget my bracelet again 😂 🤦🏻♀️ That aside.. instead of parkrun this week I’ll running the Rosebud Aus Day Fun Run this Saturday!! 🏃🏻♀️ Who’s coming??!! Who’s excited???🎉😁 meeeee 🙋🏻♀️
Perfection. It’s unattainable; yet, you’re always striving to achieve it even when you’re on your yoga mat. Rather than judging yourself for falling out of a pose, laugh and appreciate how far you’ve come.
Asana practice is meant to be imperfect. It’s wobbly, shaky & messy because that’s where the magic happens - growth🧘♀️ That’s why we come back to the mat time & time again - not to achieve an advanced asana - but to let go and embrace where we are in the present moment. So the next time you fall out of a pose, remember yoga is the messy bits. Know that you are perfect exactly the way you are because you are imperfect, and your practice is an expression of just that - the beautiful & messy bits in your life✨ #honoryogaprinceton

Happy #mlkday. This is a day that many people take for granted as another day off of work but I hope that it can instead be a day of reflection. I grew up in a home with a father from Spain and a mother from Malaysia. Quite frankly, I never thought as myself any other way than just an American kid with parents who had accents and cooked “weird” food 🤪.
Often people would ask me with a kind and genuine curiosity about my ethnic background and I would happily respond I’m “spalaysian” a term I had coined at a young age to reflect my mixed genes. I kinda loved being ‘one-of-a-kind’ but I can still vaguely remember times when I was little where I was made to feel different in a bad way. Mostly by some random school bully who didn’t know any better. It always took me by surprise because to me I was just any other ordinary kid. I had forgotten about these times because people tip-toe around these thoughts nowadays carefully not say anything not considered PC. .
Flash forward to a few weeks ago... my husband told me a story about when he went shopping for some Christmas gifts for me at a local boutique that I visit often. The sales girl asked if she could help him find something? And he said “ I’m shopping for my wife, she comes in here a lot, Paloma”. And she replied “oh is that that foreign girl?” . He said “she’s not foreign she’s from here”. And the girl then said, “uh, I mean she’s beautiful....”. He just shook his head, laughed, and picked out some earrings. It took me a moment to process his story. The fact that looking different put me in someone’s binary view as foreign vs familiar. And why did she back up her comment with a comment about beauty? I mean thanks 😂 but did she think that people who are different aren’t usually beautiful? Just a few thoughts drifting around in my head on this day. It was probably just a harmless slip up on what she meant (we have ALL said hurtful things without realizing it and we should all be more careful about how our words come off to others). I have a recent example that I’m still cringing over 🙈🙈🙈 but it was a good reminder for me about things I want to teach Harlow in the future. .
