Which is better🧐
-Increased Trunk Lean
-Minimal Trunk Lean
Consider a front squat.
Trunk is upright and knees drive over toes. Much more demand on the knee.
Versus a low bar back squat.
Knees likely don’t travel over toes as Tibia stays more vertical. Significantly increased trunk lean. Much more demand in the hips.
Worth noting that during any squat we can’t exclusively train any specific muscle or joint. All the muscles work together to overcome the external load. .
Deciding which method to implement is context specific.
👍🏻Reasons to use HIP DOMINANT:
-Develop posterior chain -Increased Knee Pain during lower body movements.
-Increase load at hip for hip pathology/dysfunction during rehab to create desired adaptation.
-Increase hip resiliency and capacity.

Hey I.G family! I know I have seen many new faces on here lately so I wanted to take a sec and properly introduce myself!
I am a wife and mother to the most amazing and beautiful kiddos. I have been in the hair industry for almost 13 years now. Wow how time flies!! I have always worked behind the chair in Downtown Greenville SC. Gratefully, I have worked along side of some of the most amazing stylists that Greenville has to offer. My most favorite part about doing hair is the time I get to spend with my clients. I love to hear what they have going on in their lives.
So shout it out! What do you have going on for the holidays? I’ll be heading to Florida for some much needed sunshine and relaxation🌞🌴
When planning and delivering stages of rehab, an understanding of the influence of load exposure, load attenuation, and force generation is critical to provide a clear understanding of the milestones that 1)need to be achieved
2)the rate at which they can be pursued.
Shifting away from a time based referenced to a criterion based approach allows us to be as individualized and specific as possible. Far more goes into progression than just the injury and surgery type.
Moving forward our focus is strength work. When choosing an exercise make sure you know the athlete has the capacity to handle the joint reaction forces and then start developing complexity: knee dominant, hip dominant, double leg, single leg, sagittal plane, frontal plane... you get the picture.
You’ll notice the athlete isn’t using the knee in the reaches and sliders to create movement but she is maintaining that joint angle isometrically. Hold, stabilize, and control a position first and then work towards propelling away from the same position. (Not ready for that yet)
The modified single leg squat is a great way to encourage loaded knee flexion without compensations and without increased risk.
Step ups are a great way to train the knee as a force generator and a force absorber. .
