#BruiserBrody defeated #LexLuger by disqualification in a #SteelCage match at a Championship Wrestling From Florida #houseshow from the #WarMemorialAuditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
He wasn't the type to go over matches. He'd been doing it a long time. Experienced veteran. We started out the match, which was in a cage, and he just stopped working. I look at the referee. The referee looks at me. I'm saying "Did I do something wrong?" I'm with an experienced guy and I have nothing, but respect for a guy like that. "Have I offended you?" He wouldn't answer. Stared at me.
So I do a punch. He wouldn't sell it. He just wouldn't work and I don't know. I was scared to death. He kept razor blades on his hands and he was a big, crazy guy so I'm thinking "Okay. I'm here giving my body to this guy and I'm not sure where his head's at right now. He just stopped working all of a sudden so I was like Let me out of here!
Bill Alfonso was an experienced referee and I go "What do we do?" and he's like "I don't know!" I was inexperienced. I said "Listen, I'll just keep on punching him in the corner and you tell me to stop a couple of times. Just DQ me." So that's what we did and then I couldn't get the cage door open. I just climbed the cage and got the Hell out of there." - Lex Luger, RF Shoot Interview
Brody had a reputation of being unprofessional to stick it to promoters who he felt wronged him. He told Luger afterwards it was nothing against him personally. The match "just wasn't working." If it wasn't for a fan who recorded this infamous match, it would've been lost in time instead of becoming legendary for the wrong reasons.
