For my Cornell friends and followers, I’ll be giving a talk on my conservation work on the forest elephants of Dzanga bai, Central African Republic, tonight! Feel free to join at 7:15 PM - G70 Ground south William Keeton House.
In March 2018, I found myself living among the forest elephants of Dzanga bai in the Central African Republic (CAR). There, I experienced a wild four months; from an arrest in Bangui to the rescue of two endangered African Grey Parrots from a cousin of Gaddafi, adventure was never far. Now, as I adjust back to life in the States, I share stories from my research and photographs of the region’s incredible people and wildlife.
Well I have been spending every spare minute preparing for my Tradeshow booth at #CFR2018 in Red Deer, so forgive me for social media taking the back burner (not that I was good at it to start with)! Figured it would be a good time for an informal introduction of the girl behind P&P for those who don’t know me. For those who do know me, keep the harassment light 🤣! Hi, I’m Nicole! I’m in my early 30’s, but I still feel weird being referred to as a women. I ranch along with my other half, and both of our families, near Hanna, Alberta. Both my parents are deep rooted in agriculture in the area. Conway’s family made the move to the area 15 years, and man was I excited for fresh blood that likes cows😜! His family comes the Irvine/Cypress Hills area of Alberta.
I wear many different hats, and getting me to sit still is next to impossible. I work for the local municipality as a Rangeland Agrologist. I am a delegate for Alberta Beef Producers. I am a past graduate of the Cattlemen’s Young Leaders mentorship program, where I was beyond blessed to be partnered with Tim Hardman, the beef director for the #worldwildlifefund (seriously, anyone who is under 35 and has a passion for the beef industry better check it this program!). Besides P&P, I am also the creative hands behind www.greystoneimages.com, and I own/operate The Bunkhouse, a sorta-western retail store. In my ‘spare’ time I play wanna-be team roper, read history books about ranching and rural settlement, and squish in the odd (overly competitive) card game.
Besides native grass, my likes are red brockle-faced cows ( #Hereford x #redangus only, none of the simmey sh*t 😂), chromed up sorrel quarter horses, heeler dogs, old country music and all things crafty.
I’m not good at social media, selfies, technology or makeup. So bare with me when I disappear now and then. There is a good chance I just lost my phone in the mess of craft supplies that occupies the kitchen table. One day I’ll have a legit craft room!
Thank you for reading this far. You are a trooper! And thank you for your support of Prairie & Plains! Cheers!
After a century of decline, tiger numbers are on the rise. At least 3,890 tigers remain in the wild, but much more work is needed to protect this species that’s still vulnerable to extinction. Thats why Cloverleaf Tire & Auto and Uniroyal are working with the World Wildlife Fund to help protect the Tigers. Buy four Uniroyal passenger or light truck tires from us and Uniroyal will donate $20 for every eligible rebate redemption to WWF. My new furry friend 🐼 Decided to get him at @wwfsg when he looks at me with huge sad eyes.
I have a thing for creatures with big eyes and good cause❤️.
Do support the popup if you are in the area. All donations go to these animals!

White Tiger in a Wildlife Park in Hertfordshire, England. The White Tiger is in fact a Bengal Tiger whose usually orange pigmentation is white. Not to confuse with an "albino" tiger whose stripes would also be (nearly) white.
As a very sad state to fact, nowadays, more tigers live in captivity around the world than in their natural habitats. The once kings of the forests have been hunted and their territories destroyed for decades. They are now a highly endangered species and if no efforts are made towards their protection they will soon only exist in zoos. Thankfully there are organisations like the WWF who commit themselves to protect those animals. If you want to support them, visit them at www.worldwildlife.org #tiger#whitetiger#worldwildlifefund#wwf#bigcats#zoo#blackandwhite#thierrydeutschphotography
I couldn’t be more proud for @beautifuldestinations’ first bit of content to go live today talking about @world_wildlife. Throughout 2018 we are going to be telling stories about the environment, conservation and sustainability with the #WWF. Join us today as we celebrate #WorldWildlifeDay! This year’s focus is on big cats 🐯🦁. Every day they are threatened by human activities such as poaching and deforestation. This is incredibly sad and it’s our responsibility living on this planet to change that. As you know, one of our brand pillars at #BeautifulDestinations is to have a positive impact on the world. Raising awareness about these types of things and more importantly helping us action on them is something I’m very passionate about. Over the years I’ve been fortunate to have some incredible experiences with animals. From bears, to sharks, to pigs, to whales 🐻🦈🐷🐳. I want our future generations to have the opportunity to learn about and experience these animals in their natural habitats. Later this year @jeremyjauncey & I will be venturing to Africa to document the Big 5 on Safari. I can’t wait to capture content especially of the big cats and continue to push a message of looking after endangered species. Go and check out the @instagram Story on @beautifuldestinations right now and sign the pledge to help make a difference! Stay tuned for more of this type of content coming from the #BDTeam 🙌🏽🌍. #WorldWildlifeFund 🐼.
