Ez a fásszín ablak nagymamámnál összefoglalja számomra a hygget, a minimalizmust, az ökot meg az összes trendi szót a létezés módjaira. Meseablak. Csak fa. Egy szeg sincs az egész épületben. 120 éve áll. Tulajdonképpen miért bonyolítottuk ennyire túl a dolgokat? #hygge#windowsoftheworld

#learning on Cape Cod at our Historic Windows: Making the Case presentation! So exciting to see everyone who has come out to learn about methods and info on how to restore historic wood windows! #woodwindows#preservation
Let’s talk condensation. We are in the throws of a good old Oklahoma seasonal shift. Warm one day, freezing the next. With these changes you might see more condensation than normal. All windows (including the high tech vinyl windows) CAN CONDENSATE. But fear not! There are measures you can take to help counteract the unwanted water beads. 1) Open your blinds and window treatments. 2) Crack your window open for a little bit to allow it to ventilate. 3) A storm window may help decrease condensation. 4) Address the humidity levels in your home. Humidity can be caused by people, pets, plants, showers, cooking, and a number of other things. Assess your home and identify what the contributing factors are. Remember, it’s not your windows fault it is a little sweaty. Give it some love anyway. .
Another weekend wrap-up: we replaced the old screens for our front windows with custom wood screens spanning the transom and casement windows. It might seem a shame to cover up these pretty windows with screen, but we love opening the casement and plan to restore the transom to working order. Plus, it was necessary. The Home Depot kit screens that came with the house were no match for our cat Squirt, whose hardy midwestern stock sent him lumbering through the old screen twice. This new one has better hardware, which should keep Squirt inside where he belongs.
Swipe for our after views, as well as a shot of Jim rescuing Squirt when he found him, terrified on the porch.
We love our new vinyl windows but love our original wood windows too! We spent 2 hrs scraping and sanding, 1 hr glazing & repairing broken panes, & 2 hrs priming and painting both sides....about 5 hours per window! We have 17 windows. This investment will be worth the time when they outlast our vinyls! #restoredwindows#houserestoration#woodwindows
This piece I used for this rail had a slight curve in it so instead of jointing it flat or selecting a straight piece I conjured up a series of curved jigs to match so it could run through the machines with proper support. #architecturalmillwork#woodworking#woodwindows
Restored radiator, trim and window, but as is so often the case, one repair creates the need for another. The window and it's frame decayed together for decades (in fact there was very little wall here when we bought the house because of water infiltration). Now that the window is square again, and not shedding it's rails and stiles into the yard, it's clear just how twisted the frame is. So twisted in fact that there isn't enough room for the upper weights to move through their pockets. The fix for me is supporting the upper sash with decorative blocks, and adding a wedge to the bottom sash in the spring. With 65 operable windows awaiting attention (not including all the glass blocks replacements awaiting replacement in the basement), one is wise to choose their battles carefully... #woodwindows#restorationsaturdays#Thornfield
