Optimism. When you’re on the third day of eating air and the odd smoothie with a spoon but you see this bad boy in Tesco and calculate that if you have all your wisdom teeth removed next week, you may JUST be able to eat it before it goes out of date. Or I just torture myself for 9 days 🤷♀️ #doubtful#ihatewisdomteeth#wickedhealthy#tesco
Already starting to get to our 5-hours-of-sunlight-a-day time of the year so this is pretty good considering it was pre-dawn. Tried another recipe from #wickedhealthy: #lobstermushroom roll with mushrooms from @oysterandking. This was a cool technique of poaching the chunks in miso and (vegan) butter which makes for a why didn't I try that before moment. So good! But the texture itself was too soft, I should have made the chunks smaller. So far these little pricey mushrooms (because they're foraged and just hang out in the fall) were best dressed by nom yourself vegan poboy recipe with these vs oyster mushrooms but this is a nice recipe. You could likely sub some shredded king oyster stocks or heart of palm with nori or dried lobster mushroom powder. Food experiments continue to be the best kind of experiments...

Daydreaming of the brunch I made this weekend 👩🏼🍳💭🍽 🧡
My first time ever making biscuits! I followed @minimalistbaker recipe for “The Best Damn Vegan Biscuits”. Mine didn’t come out perfect but not bad for a first try! ☺️
Also really into making rice paper “bacon”! I got the idea and recipe from @wickedhealthy cookbook. Just dip in water, slather on a marinade, fold-over, and fry or bake! Genius 🥓🥓🥓
Other goodies on the menu were cheesy grits made with @followyourheart Gouda and pepper jack 🧀🙌🏻 and of course some roasted root veg 🥔🍠🥕👌🏻
Tried the new Wicked Healthy pineapple glazed dessert tonight from @tescofood, with vanilla ice cream and brandy snaps from the local fair 😂 It was rich AF 😂
The pudding reminded me of cheesecake, which I never liked that much before going vegan. I think most people will love this indulgent dessert, I just felt it was too dense for me 😬 What does everyone else think of it? It’s amazing that you can buy vegan desserts in most supermarkets now 😊
I’m massively looking forward to the other products the company are launching this month, especially the fiery filthy fries 😍

Utter perfection. My vegan whole grain pasta with vegan homemade Alfredo sauce, artichokes hearts and peas. The sprinkle of smoky paprika was the finishing touch. Garlic and pepper added to the plethora of flavors bursting here. #healthylifestyle#wickedhealthy#vegan#plantpusher 🤪😋

So I have been incredibly patient waiting for these little dudes to swell up to an edible size but after the departure of our glorious summer, they got all shy and haven’t changed much for a few weeks. Tonight I threw caution to the wind and, after lovingly harvesting the little beauties, roasted them in miso, honey and sesame with coriander and black sesame seeds. I SAY MY NAAAAAAME. Properly BUMTING and grown in a pot in Brumtown. Aces X
Stuffed avocados from @wickedhealthy cookbook with heirloom tomato salsa, hot chocolate lentils, and underneath all of these goodies there is some wicked healthy cheese sauce. The avos and cheese sauce were baked in the oven, which was new to me and very tasty! Have you ever baked an avocado before?
The #vegancookalong gang is cooking from this book for the month of May, feel free to join this virtual cookbook group if you want some motivation to cook from your vegan books!
Chocolate hummus yogurt bowl🍩
this bowl was sooo yummy for my post workout meal / dessert! I crumbled up my energy bites, added some peaches and coconut, and spooned in a dollop of chocolate hummus!🍑🥥🕺🏿
I’ve been asked about so many diets and honestly a lot of them are effective because of this term: habituation. In food science this is the state of becoming used to some food item or group of food that that food becomes less exciting and you end up eating less because it no longer feels like you need to or want to.
This is true for things like the Keto diet, carnivore diet, and crazy ones like the potato diet.
It’s an important term for binge eaters though who need habituation in order to lose the excitement surrounding “binge foods” and accept those foods into their daily life so they become less exciting or “binge worthy.” People should just “habituate” healthy eating, and eat what they crave (but not too much) and not restrict any one food item or group of items unless medically necessary.
As always: moderation, moderation, moderation 👌🏻
