Have you ever ate SHARK?
Ive tried a lot of crazy shit, from Tequila worms in Mexico, frog legs in France. I’ve had haggis in the UK and wild boar, to name a few. .
But Shark? It was delicious by the way. As always one of my go to restaurants did not disappoint 💋
Looking back at some old photos today from the amazing whale season of 2013. This curious humpback spy hopped right next to my kayak just off the beach in Capitola. The grey, foggy morning made me decide on the black and white conversion.

Humans have created things that surpass a natural lifespan and exsist to only cause brief convenience then harm; plastic. The hidden catch of its use is the harm to wildlife, mostly in the oceans.
The first painting of this series is a seahorse relating to plastic as they cling to straws or plastic pieces to station themselves in the current. The incorporation of plastic (acrylic and bags) in the painting creates an interesting juxtoposition that encourages closer inspection. Plastic is then a symbol for the near doom for sea life as if seahorse continue to cling onto passing plastic caught in a current, it will mean a collapse in our ecosystems which is the main message of the series. Being aware of how we treat and dispose out plastic will mean a better natural environment as well as our future.
Posting inconsistencies but hope you enjoy :)
Stormy conditions have kept me on land and prevented magical January encounters like this from happening! Normally prego gray whales make it to the lagoons in Mexico to birth their babies but the last several years lots of babies are being born right here. I guess Laguna is a pretty cool first place to see. This shot is from the greatest encounter I’ve ever had on my SUP board as this mom guided her newborn - I’m guessing the baby was just 1-3 days old! - over to see me over and over and over for 3 unforgettable hours. This was about 3-4 miles off the coast of north Laguna. Hoping this storm passes and the ocean calms down soon! 🐳🐳
Salmon truly are the blood of this coast. Obviously they feed those incredible southern resident killer whales we all care so deeply about but they provide for so much more. Bears, eagles, seals, sea lions to name a few. Even the lush forests in BC are, in part, fed from salmon running up streams, spawning and dying. As their bodies break down along the banks of the river, nitrogen, phosphorus and other nutrients become available to the vegetation. One study concluded that trees that grow along salmon-bearing rivers grow three times faster in comparison to ones that grow along non salmon-bearing rivers!
Here is a mother Grizzly teaching her cub how to feed on chum salmon in the Orford River. Check out the expression on the cubs face as it watches mom bite into a salmon. Remember how important salmon is to these grizzlies, to the eagles, the forests and, of course, the killer whales. For us it's a luxury and an easy thing to give up. For them, it's life and death.
It's time to stop listening to the fearful thoughts or the peanut gallery, and align with who you really are. That is your soul's path. Pay attention to the subtleties of your experiences; listen to those ideas and inspirations within you that come to assist you and honor your deepest truth - not what everyone else will approve of. 🍃 Every experience up to this point in your life has shaped you, and who you have become is so much more that what’s left behind. “What was” is old news and what matters is where you choose to focus on now, what you want to give your attention to. 🐳🐋 Consciously and consistently attune to your most profound sense of self and align with Spirit's intent. Take the path of least resistance that will move you closer to your desires. We didn’t come here to suffer, to prove worthiness, to have gain only thru pain; we came here to thrive, to experience joy and wellbeing, to love, to flow thru life with confidence. 🐅🦏 Past programming can sometimes steer you in directions that is not where you want to go, so take back your power and gradually start moving in the direction YOU want to go, first vibrationally (pay attention to your thoughts and emotions) and let yourself receive inner guidance about your next steps, who to connect with, etc 🐾 Know that is natural for you to experience wellbeing and abundance, to feel Source energy flowing thru you, even if others have made you believe otherwise. Bless them all for their intentions.✌🏼 You know what feels good and what doesn’t, so start redirecting your life based on how something feels. 💜🙏🏼 #soul#path#honor#feel#focus#trust#whale

This is unreal. A friendly pat on the nose of a Great White Shark. Great clip to see the way it's eyes roll and jaw extrudes when opening its mouth! Marvellous creature! 💙🦈

Throughout history, sailors have mistaken Beluga Whales for mermaids because of their human-like knees. 🧜♀️🐋

A playful whale spinning around in the early morning. It takes a certain level of intelligence and success as a species to be able to have leisure time and play. As well as humans, whales and dolphins spend a lot of time playing. Baby humpbacks are big enough that their mothers will often let them play with us humans in small groups. @dancewithwhales

The breach of this Whale coinciding with the lightning strike is unbelievable!
Lightning only holds a coherent structure for approximately 0.2 seconds (we can perceive them for longer as they cause so much retinal activity that they cause an afterimage), so the way that this breach and strike were simultaneous is outstanding!
