One of my favorite wine regions is German #Rheingau: beautiful landscapes of the Rhine valley, medieval castles, beautiful old German towns and, of course, the best rieslings you can ever try. •
Rheingau is the northern bank of Rhine between Wiesbaden and Koblenz. In the medieval times, the are was settled by Francs who brought their winemaking traditions from Burgundy and Loire. The climate is mild with warm summers, fresh winds from the Rhine in spring and pretty soft winters: perfect conditions for high quality white wines. Today the region is world famous because of its rieslings.
HOW TO GET THERE
Pretty easy! Take a flight to Frankfurt, from there on take a regional train to Eltville (55 mins). Most interesting towns in Rheingau are Eltville, Rüdesheim and Oestrich-Winkel. You can move by car, but we prefer go around by bikes🚴♂️ combining wine tasting and sports.
🍷Weingut Schloss Schönborn - enjoy German rieslings sitting at the Rhine waterside. The closest winery to the river.
• 🍷Robert Weil is the most authentic winery in Rheingau. They combine delicious wines with beautiful and laid back atmosphere in the cosy wine farm.
🍷Kloster Eberbach is probably the best known winery in Germany. The monastery was founded in 1136 by monks sent out from Burgundy and Eberbach produced wine based on the French traditions. With the time monks realized that Rhine valley much better fits to produce riesling than pinot noir, today it is 75% of wines produced.
• 🍷Schloss Vollrads is also producing brilliant rieslings and invites you to taste them in their very special atmosphere of good saved German castle.
🍷Schloss Johannisberg is the last in our list: it offers outstanding rieslings with the the best views on Rhine and the vineyards. This is the winery where first Auslese wines were produced.
The elaboration, extraction, or maceration happens when the skins remain in contact with the freshly pressed 🍇 juice. Adding colour, tannin and layers of flavour. Spotted 🎥 @la_provenquiere
