Out for a drive after a 10km walk to the waterfalls this morning and the smoke and visibility from the bush fires seems to be worse! Ash lightly dusting the car and again the skies are a wicked colour!
Still had time to have some fun at the smoky scenic lookout.
"I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, 'Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.'" —Lewis Carroll

Headed for the hills... Last Thursday, having clearly had enough of sleeping in a comfy bed, under a roof, I ran off to sleep outside, under the stars. In my tiny pack, I took my NZDF bivvy bag, sleeping bag, stove & enough food to get me through to sunrise. After a train, a bus ride & a 6.4km walk along a road, over a hill, I arrived at the field I'd hired for $8. The only clouds in the country were there, but they soon cleared, as did the sun, leaving behind a moonlit IMAX, with the soundtrack of ruru calls & the distant ocean rumble. The only bad was the several hundred mosquito bites my skin sustained. At 5am, after 'some' sleep, my alarm rang. I hustled myself back over the hill and made my way into work. For defs the wildest place I've ever commuted from... Yours?
Sometimes it’s okay to check out and let the world pass you by for a while... In fact I think it’s more than okay, I think it’s necessary in order to really know where you are and re-align with where you are going. Allowing a moment to recognize it actually is not a race but a journey.
