Finally made it home after a very eventful 24 hours. We didn’t get to see the lights, my car broke down for the second time this month and it still won’t start... but I still wouldn’t change any of it.😁
We made tons of stops on the way driving up m22 seeing parts of Michigan I’ve never seen before that I can’t wait to go back and explore! And when the lights didn’t come out.. we spent the night shooting the incredible night sky up there and it reminded me how much I love and miss night shooting.
It’s trips like these... when things don’t go as planned that I honestly love the most. I’ve never ever taken a trip and regretted it, even when things go wrong!
I can’t wait to show you guys what we got but my eyes are literally burning from being open for so long so I’m thinking sleep before I edit is probably best so for now here’s a photo of Eastern market😂🤷🏼♀️
The best parts of life are not things, they are moments.

Rainy days aren’t so bad when you can drive to the other side of the island to escape them. 🌧 🌈 🌴 ☀️ Thinking back to Kauai today and how awesome that trip was! Hoping to get back to visit each of the islands one day. @snyder9@dearwilderness

Well...last pinecone. To be honest I drew this final one so that there would be a complete row of three (for instagram) My blog looks cluttered and I'll fix it up soon.
In this drawing I experimented with a white charcoal pencil instead of a pen as another method of highlighting. This worked well by laying a base of the white down than drawing around the base highlight. The white charcoal was also very effective to highlight over black marker. This was a peach since white pen ink chipped away easily and regular white coloured pencil turned grey. The downside to the white charcoal is it wouldn't appear when drawn over an area of coloured pencil and it mixed with graphite thus turning the area into a muddy grey.
Still learning and refining.
Primo 59-W charcoal pencil, Copic 0.03 black liner, Derwent procolour pencils, Graphite powder.
I highly Recommend the Derwent procolour product. They blend like magic and I'm considering purchasing a set of 64 due to my confidence in their quality.
