Reposted from @wearethepast - On this day in 1759 scottish poet Robert Burns was born. Today all over Scotland people are having a "Burns Supper" in his honour, where they get together, eat traditional haggis, drink scottish whisky and recite Robert Burns' poems. ▪
O my Luve's like a red, red rose
That’s newly sprung in june;
O my Luve's like the melodie
That’s sweetly play'd in tune:
As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I:
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry:
Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun:
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.
And fare thee weel, my only Luve
And fare thee weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho’ it were ten thousand mile.

🌙✨m a g i c - this was a beaut morning back on Arran! ☕️🌅☺️
I was thrilled this week to see the inspirational David Attenborough talking about the disconnect between modern life and the natural world. Its something I have been talking a lot about recently. I if I can inspire just one person to take up landscape photography and develop a greater appreciation for the landscape and nature then I will have done one small positive thing towards conservation. Raising awareness and closing the disconnect is vital to get governments to do more to look after the natural world.
I hear people talking about 'getting away' and 'escaping' into the great outdoors. I'm much more interested in finding a constant situation where the landscape and my cosy, modern city life coexist in perfect harmony. It has to be possible, otherwise we're doomed.
Anyway......This is an image from Glen Rosa in the Isle of Arran. I spent a few days there last week filming several projects and managed to capture this stunning scene. I enjoy my landscape photography the most when I put some distance between myself and the car. The spot requires a very pleasant two hour round trip to reach and I didn't see a single person.
Throwback to Christmas Eve in the sun☀️ .
This was a busy walk up Dumyat Hill near Stirling. Despite being so close to Christmas, people were at the top in t-shirts! That weather is long gone❄️

The infamous Tolbooth in Edinburgh stood by St Giles Cathedral in the heart of the Old Town.
Before it was demolished in 1817 it served as jail, council building and library.
The platform at the west end, nearest to the viewer, was the site of a gallows for public hangings.
The first picture shows the Edinburgh Mob burning down the door to grab Captain Porteous of the Town Guard in 1737 to be lynched in the Grassmarket.
The location of the door is marked by a stone heart in the cobbles outside the cathedral.
This weren't that! I wanted a quick swim after cycling - and pushing - through snowy glens so stopped off as the light looked beautiful. I set up the camera and got some shots but it wasn't quite as nice as I hoped. Fairly calm, a small breeze, ya beauty, I thought. Instead it was all manky and murky, and stony and seaweedy. So I just stood in the cold water for 4 minutes 😆. Such is life, Ned Kelly, such is life. This week I start to acclimatise properly to winter water, I'm going to need it!
Isle of sky is something out of a dream! Like a combination of another planet and middle earth 🧝🏼♀️🐉 It’s a place I can totally imagine dragons flying over head and faeries hiding in trees. With it’s odd ethereal vibe I see why countless fairytale movies were filmed here!
Thanks for the stunning shot @snapsbyshirin, give her a follow!
What an amazing shot of @edinburghcastle from The Vennel 😍😍 •
