A man [being] is but the product of his thoughts; what he thinks, he becomes. -Mahatma Gandhi •
We think snow, therefore we shall become snow. Or snow dogs! Bacchus is so excited he’s drooling about it. •

Our house was built in 1898. We have a huge brick chimney throughout it, and someone in the last 121 years thought it’d be a good idea to close that sucker up and fill it with concrete. 😭
Needless to say, I capitalize on most fireside opportunities elsewhere. Loved this hidden gem of a room we found the other day in Buena Vista, tucked around lots of corners for the curious one to find.
Positive anything is better than negative nothing. -Elbert Hubbard ♡-♡-♡-♡ Another beautiful mountain Monday. And we got snow!! ♡-♡-♡-♡ Do Mondays have to be a negative, dreaded thing? We found ourselves with a bah humbug Monday mindset mostly because it’s what we were used to; it was habit. Thanks to our insta friends we’ve found such inspiration from mountain Mondays we actually look forward to them now. As we do for the other days of the week. We’re on a mission to turn that Monday mood frown upside down! Who’s with us? ♡-♡-♡-♡ #mountainmonday#turnthatfrownupsidedown#powerofpositivity#mondaymood
America’s infrastructure be like…
Okay, I’m not just throwing shade for shade’s sake this #PresidentsDay. In 2017, The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) gave America’s infrastructure a grade of D+ which is a little too close to failing for my taste... The report divides infrastructure into multiple categories ranging from transit to waste treatment and here’s how each one scored:
Solid Waste: C
Bridges and Ports: C+
Aviation, Dams, Drinking Water, Roads, Inland Waterways, and Levees: D
Public Parks, Energy, Schools, Hazardous Waste, Waste Water: D+
What do those grades mean in real life and how do they impact you? Well... Congestion and traffic delays cost our country $160 billion in wasted time and fuel. To meet future demand, $271 billion will be needed for wastewater infrastructure over the next 25 years. In one year, an average of 240,000 water mains break. Those are just SOME of the ways that dilapidated infrastructure hinders us from ACTUALLY being great.
So this President’s Day, I challenge you to do the following:
1. Vote for and support public officials on the local and national level dedicated to improving our infrastructure. If you need help engaging lawmakers, ASCE has wonderful guides on their website.
2. Get involved with your city and county councils - a lot of education, public space, waste management, water, and transit issues are discussed here. Don’t get so caught up in the national conversation that you neglect what’s happening in your community.
