Quick history class.
This monument is for the children killed during the siege of Sarajevo. The monument consists of a bronze ring in the center of which there are two glass sculptures measuring 5 and 3 meters in height. The ring itself is made out of munition that is fired on Sarajevo during the siege, and it represents a 'border' of Sarajevo during the siege. If you come closer, you can see footprints and handprints of mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters of killed ones. The sculptures inside the ring are representing mother that is desperately trying to protect her child (with her own body). •
So excited to be in Sarajevo. The Latin bridge where Franz Ferdinand was asasinated kicking of WW1, bullet holes in buildings from the Serbian Siege of Sarajevo in the early to mid 90s, Muslims, Orthodox and Catholic Christians, and Jews living in harmony. Southeast Europe continues to be stunning and complicated. The photos do not do justice to the beauty of this city. #sarajevo#bosnia#visitbosnia#difficulthistory#enchanted

I am not sure why Bosnia is underrated! It’s an absolutely beautiful country to visit...but then...I’m subjective because when I was 13, my crush was from Bosnia...and since then it holds a special place in my 🖤

That view over the capital of Bosnia & Herzegovina 🌞 It has been an emotional and fun week with my Hilti colleagues, now back to normal life / «Курс на Джабджану заложен»,- весело сообщил нам по-английски навигатор, полностью напутав произношение города Любляны.
Many of you may know we run a mountain lodge in Bosnia, @vukovkonak 👍 Today we organised a Forest Clean Up Day here.
We didn't know if anyone will show up... 😁 The mentality is easily 'I'm not picking up other people's trash' - but the point is: It's not about 'the other people', it's about the WILD, the nature 🌲🌳💚
So at 10am we had a small crowd of people from Sarajevo gathering to join us! Adults, kids, dogs 😁 It was AWESOME! 👌👌👌
The initial idea was sparked months back, last autumn, when I thought 'enough with the trash'... and we decided we'd have to do something. We knew Vukov konak needs to be part of this. And to see the 'something' turning into this 👆 was AMAZING! 💎
If I'm completely honest, I sometimes wonder what's my purpose in Bosnia. Why do I live here, why do I keep returning? What's the grand idea, why don't I stay in my native Finland? Now, today highlighted my reasons again 💡 There's a paradigm shift happening. It's slow, and it isn't as loud as it should be. But it's there. And I'm drawn to be part of it 🙏
There's more about today in my stories, and if you're interested in our eco tourism quest here, do follow @vukovkonak 🌍🌲❤️
Now all I have to say is THANK YOU for showing up today! It was a great day! We are deeply grateful 🙏❤️
