🗣VAN BLOOPERS! I had a leak in my roof after installing my fans and skylight. Read more ⬇️
➡️When I climbed up on the roof I noticed that the MD Cord weather strip/sealant that we placed between the fan and the van roof had melted into a big gooey mess all over. This MD Cord stuff is pliable and supposed to stay that way. We think that the melting around the valleys (roof isn’t even surface) somehow let some water leak in. .
➡️I spent several hours removing he MD Cord sealant and the silicone caulking that I had put on over the lip as added protection. The caulking I used was not self leveling and I think that’s part of the problem as well. It didn’t adhere to the surface very well or fall into the grooves. A few ppl mentioned that I should try the Dicor self leveling sealant (thanks @bearsbuilds )instead. I went to order it on Amazon but it would have taken almost two weeks so I located some at a local RV store. The photo above is the dried self leveling Dicor sealant. I can already tell it has better coverage and may add another bead of it around everything just in case. .

🗣The first coat of paint on the small cabinets was completed yesterday. 🎨
I applied a second coat today, and will do touch ups tomorrow. I also finished 2 coats of white paint on the larger cabinet and the first coat of stain on the cabinet doors. The cabinets were both made by my brother using wood from shelves and other things collecting dust on my parents property. 🤗

🗣Connecting to shore power is something I’ve considered when designing my electrical setup. I wasn’t sure I’d use it but several ppl mentioned that they really enjoy the convenience of it. Read more ⬇️
➡️My dad and I were chatting about all of this and came to a solution. Instead of exchanging my inverter for one that will auto convert when I plug into shore power or buying any other expensive equipment, I could just use a battery charger if I was really desperate for power. This would only happen if my solar panels weren’t brining in enough sun to use. I could just plug in a battery charger (such as the one in this photo) and charge up my battery bank. I suspect I’ll need a battery charger specific for lithium batteries but I’ll have to research more. The one in this photo was only around $20. What are your thoughts? 💭
🗣The Schumacher Electric Digital Portable Power station 1200 amp jump starter will be going on the road with me thanks to my dad for donating it. Read more ⬇️
➡️I’ll be able to put air in my tires if needed as well as jump start my van with this little thing. 🙌🏽

Fun day sending laps at Deer Valley Bike Park. I can see how this whole chairlift thing could be easy to get used to. Still enjoy earning my turns though.
6 months down on our big Aussie trip ❤️ I can’t wait to explore more beautiful beaches, swim in more turquoise waters and take our little van to more beautiful places 🚐🚐🚐
Where’s my other leg though?! 🧐
Happy Father’s day to all of you awesome dads out there.
Being a father gave me a sense of purpose in life. Without them I wouldnt be driving a slammed van right now that’s for sure haha. I wouldnt have it any other way.
I guess you can say it was meant to be right? @mrscotaco
Fatherhood taught me what it means to love more than yourself and it’s such a great feeling when they accomplish something and get to experience them together. We make a lot of sacrifices, but the rewards far more offset them.
