A #throwback to this day last year when Odín had had his chassis and bumper fixed after the accident and was given the all clear after being written off!
UPDATE: My boy is back home! Odin has had major work done and it’s been a really stressful few weeks (scary to think how a 30 second lapse in a strangers attention can affect your life so much) but he has been fixed up and is looking better than ever with his snazzy new bumper. In the end my insurance company offered £1900 (after scrappage fees) which having done research online I know should have been higher. To be fair to them they did offer to re-evaluate but they said that the other persons insurance company are well known for being very difficult (which I can attest to having been hounded by bullying calls from them) and that the process would be much slower if we went down this route. I worked out the cost of repairs and their offer covered these easliy so I decided to go with it and move on.
In the end the body work cost £463 and they pulled the rear panel back into place, fixed the hinges and side panel and fitted a new bumper. The mechanical work was more expensive than expected because when the rear panel was pulled it created two big holes which needed welding. My garage had to weld the holes, replace the exhaust, replace the brake disks and pads (needed doing anyway) do a service and also re-MOT the van before my insurance would cover me again. All that cost £798 which with the bodywork and extra costs that we’ve had while not being able to drive, like taxi’s and bus fares, means the toral repair came in at £1306 leaving us with £594 towards our next holiday and a van that is not only back on the road but better than ever. Proof positve that even the most upsetting, miserable rainy cloud can have a silver lining. Even if you have to wait and worry for a while, keep your chin up, stay strong and you’ll come out the other end, possibly better off than you were originally.
Oh and this is our third companion.
Venus - not to say Queen Venus.
Sometimes she will spread out onto both seats, other times she will switch seat entirely not showing much interest in moving back.
She goes crazy whenever we get to the beach and is picky about what she eats.
One day cashew nuts will be her favorite, another day she looks at them like 🤨
Venus was born in the streets of Thailand. She listens to me really well whenever she feels like it.
My puppy you are just so much fun 😆🐶❤️ #traveldogs

Make sure to follow for plenty of amazing daily pics
Today is Ren’s birthday. I want to write something gushing and amazingly fitting for such an amazing wife. But I just can’t find words that are big enough. She is amazing, in every way and has literally saved my life more than once. This life we chose is not for everyone, but now as we look to find work... together, I can’t help but think how amazing it is. I don’t want to go to work and miss out on time with her, nor do I want to wait for retirement either, we’re both clapped out enough as it is anyway! @runksy I love you to the moon and back, but I’d be just as happy to keep going through the stars too. Now... Champagne, prawns and Champagne.
I thought it might be time for a new logo for my art instagram! ✨ This is my ultimate dream of an adventure mobile! It is sort of a fantasy version of our T3 van (@our.breakawaytale). And yes, I totally let my inner child take the lead with this one 😄 But I am not sure yet, if it is finished, I might still want to add some more details. Does anyone have any ideas? 🤔
Wow, we really can't belive it: we are living the vanlife since one year! 🎉🚀
Sometimes it feels like yesterday, sometimes it feels like ten years. So many things are still new everyday and others are already complete routine. We are happy and thankful everyday that we decided to live this life and that we have the opportunity to travel for so long. 🚐 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• we travelled through 15 countries
• had 184 different night spots
• drove 21.363 kilometers
• adopted 1 dog
• had 3 repairs at the van
• had 1 crash (nothing bad happend, only a litte bump)
• got stuck 1 time
• stayed in 7 different Airbnbs (4 of them in Bucharest, as we waited for our van)
• had friends or family over 5 times
• took 16 ferries (most of them in Norway)
• been to 3 islands (Værøy, Hailuoto, Saaremaa)
• took 10.580 pictures (approximately)
• used around 2309 liters of fuel and spent 2840 euros for that
• had temperstures between -8 (Greece) and +35 (Finland) degrees
• milked goats for the first time
• saw two wild elks and tons of reindeers
• spilled our drinks at least 100 times
• had uncountable good experiences and wonderful moments
