Day 1 of campervan conversion and the internal racking has being removed! 💪🏻 Gonna be a slow but steady progress since we are now absolutely skint thanks to insuring and taxing this guy (completely worth it tho🤩) (((oh and we are saving for our wedding next year in amongst all of this😂)))
Van progress so far...made a little rain deflector for the side door and decided to redo the insulation, wasn't happy with the first attempt. Late evenings in work and parts being delayed in the post aren't helping progress but I'm learning a lot about what works and what doesn't!
🎉ITS MY VANNIVERSARY!🎉 I was looking for a van for about a year. I was pretty set on buying a sprinter van because I thought it was the “best” van for van life. I’m glad I didn’t. This van has so much more character. And although I can’t stand up inside, I still love her more than anything❤️ I found her on craigslist for an AMAZING price. The lovely elderly couple who sold it to me only used her to take their grandkids to Disneyland a couple times out of the year. It came fully stocked. Every button worked. They had the original Poloraid TV hooked up to a PlayStation. The motorized bed was still motorized. AC/heater was in tip-top shape and till this day I haven’t had any major mechanical issues. Her name was Dino before I had her painted blue. Now she’s just “The Van.” If anyone has any suggestions for a name I will gladly hear it☺️
from @blackpearltravato - Just because I live in a van, doesn’t mean I don’t clean the bathroom! Some @drbronner peppermint soap has The Pearl’s head clean, and smelling fresh! ALL - ONE!

1️⃣ After the weather turned ☁️ it was best to stay in and get some of the furniture fixed into place!
2️⃣ The long hinges on the seats are working perfectly and make the storage area really easily accessible! Hopefully they will stand up to the test of time 😋
Well. The lights work. Another day driving southwards to the the big smoke of the French Alps has continued its toll on us both, but we would happily take this toll over the monetary ones for a quicker journey. Here’s to taking the road less travelled. ☀️🚐🛣
Entrusted with a drill!
One thing we did today was to put batons down on the floor to create a channel for the wiring and heating loop.
All important stuff for sure, but I would like it to hurry up and be the time where we choose paint colours and tiles 😊
Wayne has been studying piano for the last year and really didn't want to leave it behind on our travels. Wayne converted and designed the interior of our little campervan and now It fits on top of our side cabinet and pulls out when in use.

New mirror #vanselfie .
It has taken a while for me to convince my other half to put up a mirror on his beloved cladded wall but I managed to find one that didn't take too much away from the wood and still shows a nice little snapshot of the wall behind 👌Thank you @homesense_ukie for saving the day yet again.

The Denali sold in May but I have been storing it for the new owner. Today it left the property to begin it's new life. Even though it hasn't been mine for a while, it was still bittersweet to say goodbye ❤🚐🌿" Courtesy by @theflippingnomad

I know I really, really shouldn’t complain about this amazing weather but I miss winter. I miss fleeces and woolly hats and making the van all cosy after a cold walk or climb. I miss waking up in the morning huddled so far down in my sleeping bag that I can’t find the exit and arguing with Laurie about who’s turn it is to turn the heating on (even though the double bag means we both have to lean forward to do it). I miss the smell of the stove being lit and the slow warmth that spreads throughout our rolling home as we make our morning cuppa. I even miss the painful moment of jumping out the van first thing to go pee in a bush when it’s barely light and the ground is frozen over. Don’t get me wrong, campervanning in the summer is great and all that, but I’m sorry summer, my heart belongs to winter.

“I know some people who think that being a stay at home mom is a piece of cake. I’m not one of the those people. Griffin isn’t in school so trying to come up with fun and educational activities to do all day, every day, completely drains me. When we lived in a two bedroom home I was able to sneak away for some time to my self when I really needed it, but in our 350 (ish) sqft home, there is no hiding. We are attached at the hip 24/7. Some days he plays on his own for hours, but most days he’s in my face, on my lap, and talking my ear off about animals. When we were in Maine we had a great group of friends that we could meet up with daily. I miss adult conversation and coffee with my friends while our little one entertain each other. I haven’t made many friends here yet, and my closest friend is over an hour away, so meeting up daily with her isn’t really an option. It’s just me and G, all day, every day. 😬😬😬
HOWEVER, I know these days are fleeting, and before I know it he will be in school and I will miss all of this time we have together. These slow paced mornings watching him eat breakfast while I drink my coffee. ☕️ Listening to him use his imagination while he creates elaborate landscapes for his animals to adventure in. 🐘 Spending hot summer days at the pool for hours, or laying in the hammock while he searches for bugs. 🐜 Even though there are days when I want to hide in the closet, most days I’m incredibly thankful to get to spend so much time watching this little person that I helped create grown into the sweet, adventurous, loving, creative and wild little man that he is ❤️
