House of industry and export in Oslo.
I am usually drawn to older more quaint buildings, but I can also appreciate a nod to som Soviet era architecture realness💁♀️
(Ps: This building was voted Oslo’s ugliest in 2011, how??)
"I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the N*gro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice ... who constantly says: 'I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action' ... Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection." -Martin Luther King Jr, Letter from a Birmingham Jail, April 16, 1963

7 World Wonders always seemed a bit arbitrary to me. There are way more than 7 wonders on this planet and the accepted 7, wouldn't be my 7. And why only 7!? Blame the Greeks. Er, blame western societies fascination with everything Ancient Greek. The current list of the 7 Wonders of the World was created in 2001 via an internet campaign (doesn't sound very wonderous does it). They picked 7 because Ancient Greek texts originally listed 7 wonders, but they also had a much smaller world back then. Of those original 7, only the Great Pyramids in Cairo remains. The rest have been destroyed or possibly were myth to begin with. Here is the site of the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, once one of the greatest man-made structure you could ever hope to see, now a single solitary column. (Note: the first destruction of this temple was my a man who set a great fire because he wanted his name forever attached to what he considered the most beautiful structure ever constructed.)
The surge of adrenaline that kicked in as soon as the plane landed is quite overwhelming. The cold crisp air that freezes my body. The homeliness of the faces I met as we walked around the city. The familiarity of cobblestone alleys. The odd smell of authentic Shawarma. The playfulness of color on Turkish delights. I didn’t expect these would happen after I walked through immigration. But it did. Thank you Lord for the seamless and safe trip to Istanbul. | #vagabond#neversettle
