I am sorry it's been so long! Medical school is all the work it seems like it would be (and more). I am yet to finish a single other book since I got up here except the audiobook of The Rest of us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness.
This book is brilliant and heartwarming. It combines making fun of the trope of the chosen one, with all the feelings and love of a true coming of age/becoming who you truly are story.
I deeply recommend it, either in audiobook form or any other format.
I want to give a quick shout out to the lovely and overwhelmingly amazing friend of mine, @misty8rius, who has kept standing by me even if I go MIA for a while (exams and illness don't mix). I hope to post more soon (I'm still finding my footing here) and will update y'all when I finally finish this book.
Currently, on my morning walks to the QMC I'm listening to The Picture of Dorian Gray. I've read it a thousand times before, yet hearing being read to me is a whole new experience. I prefer reading (by far) but walking and reading across all the roads seems a little too dangerous even for me!
I miss you all and I miss the community, I hope you all stick by me till I finally work out schedules and reading.
Till later, my friends.

Snow? Fall. (There can be both in one week here.) Thanks for sharing the great view, @nadyamakay45!
The diversity @YorkUniversity inspired me to travel and explore different cultures. Most of you may not know this, but thanks to my years studying at #YorkU, I work as a Teacher during the school year and spend my summers traveling. I’m blessed that #YorkU has afforded me the ability to pursue both my passions in life. - To learn more about #YorkU, head to the link in my bio! @YorkUniversity#ad
Why you shouldn’t compare yourself to “Instagram models”
These pictures show two very different sides of reality, but they both are very much real (as opposed to photoshopped). The key is in the fact that pictures happen in a momentary, fleeting second. What happens leading up to and during that second makes all the difference in the world what you actually see in the photograph produced.
In many situations, comparing yourself to celebrities, fitness models, and Instagram models is like comparing your score on a test to someone who took the test while looking at the answer key; it’s a totally unequal comparison because the other person has an obvious advantage. Let me break down what I mean:
1. The picture on the right was taken after two months of eating at a caloric deficit, resulting in the most shredded physique I had built to-date. By contrast, the picture on the left was taken after over three months of eating at a caloric surplus, resulting in (albeit minimal) fat accumulation in the midsection.
2. The picture on the right was taken after a week of water loading followed by water cutting, which allows definition to show through far more than it would otherwise. I also hadn’t eaten almost any solid food on the day of the shoot. In the picture on the left, I had just eaten over 1000 calories and I was particularly bloated because of it.
3. In the picture on the right, I’m in a professional photography studio with incredible lighting, an amazing photographer @arthurmarroquin, and I’m positioned in such a way to perfectly complement my physique (because Arthur is just that good lol). On the left, I’m in the foyer of my house back home under yellow lighting (which washes out the physique), my mom took the picture, and neither of us are quite sure how to position my body the right way.
4. On the right, I had literally just finished doing hundreds of push-ups to get the perfect bodyweight pump throughout my upper body. On the left, I hadn’t even worked out that day (no pump).
So when you see “perfect” bodies on the internet, know that the pictures are intentional, calculated, and posed. Be aware, draw inspiration, but don’t compare. #HeartOfALyon
