Anxiety: Not the easiest topic to talk about, but I'm going to take the plunge because I think it's important to acknowledge mental health.
I've had a big week, I've gone back to my job that I loathe, I'm on the early shift and I haven't been sleeping well.
On Monday my anxiety was so bad I struggled to park my car in an empty Carpark. On Tuesday I felt so deflated that I slept the afternoon away.
And tonight I went to the gym. It has become my outlet, it's given me time to switch off, think, reevaluate, and sweat the negativity out. But tonight it was different. My mood at the gym went from 100-0 real quick. My anxiety got the better of me, my eyes filled with tears and I made my way back to the car after only being there for 35mins.
I felt like I had failed myself by leaving, and it really upset me. But then I realised, I WENT to the gym for 35minutes. That might not be much, but it's 35 minutes longer than I would have 2 weeks ago - I wouldn't have even thought of it let alone walked in the door, and that is an accomplishment in itself.
So for anyone struggling today, you aren't alone, and you aren't a failure. Always recognise the things you DO, and dong stress the small stuff. We are all only humans, so let's look after each other 💕
So while I wait for my polls to end so I can see the results, I thought I would do a post on things that I dont spend money on, which as a result saves me a lot.
1. Work lunches: As posted previously, I don't pay for my food and beverages at work, not because i'm a thief, but because as a supervisor in a cafe my boss allows me a free meal daily. Working 5 days a week, this saves me a heap of money, but also means I dont have to worry about forgetting my lunch!
2. Netflix: I know a lot of people make a heap of accounts to get free trials, but im too lazy. Instead a guy at my work provided me with his netflix account and password. I repay the favour every now and then by driving him home, so its a win win situation.
3. Gym Membership: my best friend recently joined a gym where one of the perks of her membership is to bring a friend for free. So I take full advantage of this, and meet her at the gym everyday at a time that suits her. I get to use the whole gym, the exact way I would if I had a membership, only I'm saving $6.95 a week!
4. Coffee: I don't drink coffee, and don't anticipate to. As a barista, being around coffee and seeing how reliant people become on it is a major turn off. But I honestly can't stand the smell or taste 🙅
5. Alcohol: I'm not a huge drinker. I only drink on special occassions, and I guess you could say when I do drink, I binge. Usually for my birthday I get gifted anywhere between 3-4L of alcohol which lasts me the year, meaning I rarely have to buy alcohol.
To anyone this might just look like a few cases of empty beer bottles or rubbish, but to me this is pure gold.
My best friends neighbour just sent me this pic to show me all the bottles they've saved me this week while I've been sick.
Every week I get at least 6-10 cases of beer bottles plus a tub or two of alternative bottles/cans from other members of her street who join them for drinks throughout the week.
Legitimately everyone in the street knows I collect the bottles every week, and a little old man across the road even fills his little bucket and brings his dog across to help deliver them to me on a Sunday!
Crazy but this weekly haul has made me hundreds in less than 12 months.
I was using the money to help pay for Bali but now that is over I use it for bills. This month it will go towards my car service! #twentyfivewithadrive#budgeting#budgetspender#budget#savings#savvyspender#savvy#frugal#frugality#frugalliving#returnandearn#recycling#trashtotreasure#liquidgold
Such good news for us!
My partner quit his job late last year due to harassment from his boss & boss' son. My partner has a really short temper but he did really well to hold his sh!t together for 6 years.
After quitting his job we went to Bali for a few weeks to recharge and compose ourselves so that we could come back and find him a job that he loved regardless of what the wage was.
He is a fitter and turner, with a background doing mechanics so he had a huge amount of interest from employers. After much deliberation he took a job with a company who is the biggest employer in our area, which a few of our friends already work for.
In the past 6 months he has been asked to travel for work, to supervise, and is in hot demand between companies that he is essentially contracted to. This has been so beneficial because it meant he was able to negotiate his wage, his hours, and pick what site he enjoyed most.
Next week he gets put through his medical and all of the negotiations will settle for him to be put full time, which is such good news for us in the grand scheme of buying our own house! #twentyfivewithadrive#supportivepartner#frugal#frugality#frugalliving#savings#savvyspender#savvy#dreams#career#ambitious#barefootinvestor#fulltimework#growth#growing#couplegoals
I've spent the day attending a bunch of open houses with my partner and mum, and while it has been a mixture of feelings, we decided to go and explore the display homes that are local to us. It was great because we could tap into our imaginations and figure out what we want in a house and how to create it with a modern twist. I LOVE display homes, I remember running rogue in them as a child and just the smell of them bring back so many memories, but I absolutely adore the amount of inspiration I get from them.
It isn't financially or practically feasible for us to build, as we won't get what we want in a house for the price, but it is so good to explore different options, and to utilise our creativity to be able to achieve different things. #twentyfivewithadrive#passion#inspiration#displayhome#coralhomes#firsthome#firsthomebuyer#barefootinvestor#daveramsey#savvyspender#savvy#savings#frugal#frugality#frugalliving#creativity

On Australia day my partner and I decided to go for a picnic together. It's been a real struggle trying to maintain a relationship while working completely opposite rosters, so any time we get to spend together is valuable.
We went for a long drive and ended up on the lake macquarie where we cooked up a BBQ picnic lunch and watched everyone in their boats and jet skis enjoy themselves. #twentyfivewithadrive#frugal#frugality#frugalliving#savvyspender#savvy#savings#qualitytime#picnic
Productive day; I've done 4 loads of washing including sheets, towels, clothes and work clothes. I've mowed and whipper snipped the back lawn. I've also given this little guy a haircut and bath saving me about $60.
Some people query why I mow the lawns instead of leaving it for my partner to do; first of all, while my parents are happily married, I was still brought up around single mothers whether it be neighbours, friends mums, aunties, family friends etc. Many of them chose to hire someone to do their lawns, while others struggled to do it themselves or got their sons to do it. My dad was a greenskeeper for some time and has huge lawn pride, which rubbed off on me, so I asked him to teach me to mow the lawn so I could help them out. I still to this day help some of my friends and their parents along with my parents do theirs.
Secondly, why the heck should I make my partner do the lawn after working ridiculous hours doing manual labour every week? By doing them myself it means that my partner can do more overtime without worrying about them, and he gets to spend his day off relaxing like he deserves.
Power to all the women who are single mums, your inspirational, strong and perfect role models 🙌 #debtfreecommunity#twentyfivewithadrive#debtfree#savings#frugal#frugality#frugalliving#freshlawn#freshdog#maltesepoodle#productivity#goals#aspirations#inspiration
Wow, I am blown away! In a matter of a week I have gained 200 followers. In comparison to a lot of instagram pages, it's not much, but to me it means the world.
I have been questioning myself this whole week about my content, my irregular posts, whether people are interested and whether or not I am doing this whole instagram thing right, but seeing that number tonight after work made me realise I'm doing pretty okay.
I didn't create this page to get a heap of likes or followers, I did it for myself. As said previously I created this page to set goals and hold myself accountable, whilst getting tips from others but if this page can help to inspire one other person to make a change in their life whether it be mentally, spiritually, actively, financially or what may have you, then I know I've done something right.
Whenever people ask me what I want to do when I grow up, I always say I want to inspire, to help, to be a positive role model, not because I'm into all the sappy stuff, but because of what I have personally been through.
I will try to do a big (& personal) post on my biggest inspirations and what drives me to be a better person tomorrow.
But in the meantime, thank you so much for following my journey 💕 #debtfree#debtfreecommunity#goals#ambitions#inspiration#change#help#thankyou#savvyspender#savvy#savings#journey#debtfreejourney#twentyfivewithadrive#spiritual#mentalhealth#community#frugality#frugal#frugalliving#frugallife#daveramsey#barefootinvestor
Sorry for being so quiet. I anticipated making an account that I would make regular posts and contributions, share tips and advice, and to have a place I could go to for the same. I also want to utilise my account to hold myself accountable and manage my progress throughout the year.
I promise to try and keep up the content, but right now I'm flat out. With my upcoming party (tomorrow), and my boyfriend getting home from Melbourne a day early, it has been so jam packed with organising, shopping, cooking, cleaning and of course quality time with my friends and partner.
But I want to also thank my followers. I didn't anticipate my account to get off it's feet so quickly, and while the number of followers is minimal in comparison to other pages, I am so grateful that people are showing an interest in my content already.
It's daunting jumping on instagram for the first time, not knowing who will see your content and how they'll react, as well as what direction you want to go in, but right now I am so grateful that although I have posted very minimal, that it is receiving interest!

I've had such a busy day, so apologies for being missing in action.
It's my birthday this weekend so my best friend and I spent the day organising my party and shopping for goods.
I also had O'Brien glass come out to fix my windscreen as it was chipped and needed replacing.
Sounds like an expensive day right? WRONG!
My birthday party is 90's themed so my best friend and I hit all the local op-shops to buy props and decorations suited to that era. I managed to score 30 VCR tapes for $3, 10 cassette tapes for $5, and an extra large barbie doll, some my little ponies, hot wheels cars, board games and cd's for $5 (will post up tomorrow).
I am stoked considering I did a quick decoration shop at kmart and the reject shop last week and spent $70.
I also managed to purchase both my partner and I costumes that I put together using clothes from cotton on, supre and factory, and used my perks card and redeemed a $10 voucher I had, as well as a $10 birthday voucher, so in total 2 costumes completely accessorised cost me less than $30!
My windscreen replacement also didn't cost me as it was covered by insurance. I pay $5 a month on top of my standard cover for windscreen insurance and am entitled to one free windscreen per year. With the amount of hail lately, I decided to add it as an extra just before the new year, which saved me $300 today!
On top of all that frugal goodness, my partner surprised me at home tonight after the past 4 days working in Melbourne.
Off to bed now, because I will actually be able to sleep with him by my side! Night xx #debtfreecommunity#debtfree#frugal#frugalliving#frugallife#twentyfivewithadrive#savvy#savings#birthday#thrifty#save#saving#costume#consumerism#busy#stressed#insurance#frugalfashion

Setting goals is important to feel achievement, purpose, to have something to look forward to and put your energy into.
I've been making small changes to my lifestyle and trying to organise and prioritise to assist in reaching said goals. Unfortunately I am one of those people who always put others needs before my own, and this year the biggest change I need to make is prioritising my own needs and being a bit selfish with my time.
I try to make my goals as realistic as possible, and smaller so that I can keep on track, to help motivate myself and so that I can reflect on my progress.
This year some of my goals include:
➡ finishing my studies; I began a cert 4 in community services last year, but am yet to complete it due to my full-time work commitments and a spontaneous trip to Bali. This year I want to pick up the remaining units, and complete them, along with studying an additional cert 4. My end goal is to become a paramedic, so I will utilise my studies this year to access university next year. ➡ buy a house; my parents anticipate to use the equity that they have in their house, to assist me in purchasing my own. They hate seeing me pay $410 a week for a house I don't own, and I really want somewhere to call my own. ➡ pay off all my consumer debt. While I don't have a lot of consumer debt, I want to rid of what I do have. This includes two credit cards. ➡ pay off my student debt; this includes my Tafe fees for this year and last year, along with my hex debt from prior studies so that it doesn't affect my borrowing capacity.
I have been looking into the debt free community and the debt free snowball, which I think is an amazing idea. I just have to work out where to start, and try to get my partner on board! Let me know if you have any experiences with stubborn partners, and how you persuaded them! 💕
