Reposting one of my favorite shapes to throw on the wheel- Genie bottles 🧞♂️ These bad boys are completely hollow. I remember the first time I started making these shapes in 2011, I was enamored by the form I loved constantly adjusting and shaping. I always got teased for making these and no one ever understood. I remember displaying these and being met with harsh criticism “what’s the point if you can’t use it for anything?” However, These are filled with purpose, they are simply something I make out of pure love, joy and magic. I hope when people look at these and hold them, they feel happier. ✨☺️ that’s all the purpose they really need. To be art and inspire others.
I used to be stronger.
...Or that’s just what I thought. I used to never cry, I used to never let my emotions get too close to the surface, I used to never let anybody past the 12 foot walls I built around my heart. Truth is, that girl I used to be was struggling. I pushed people away and locked my emotions up. When you push everything back and never let anything out, you become a ticking time bomb.. it’s just a matter of time until it all spills over and bursts like a pent-up flood. Now, I sometimes let my emotions get the best of me. I cry more often and I vent to my poor friends who so graciously listen to everything in my life, that in my eyes, is less than perfect. But I am stronger for it. Strength does not come from the ability to seemingly hold it all together, strength comes from dealing with those emotions and whatever ails you and learning from it, getting through it, making changes in your life to better yourself and your situation.
