At long last, after nearly 9 hours of hike, we finally reached the 5th peak ( Mt. Tangbaw ) which is the Camp Site. The sun was about to set while we setup our tents, cleaned ourselves ( some took a bath even if it's very cold as it's an Ice bucket challenge ) & prepared our dinner.
The village doesn't have electricity nor stable mobile coverage, so it was too dark and only flashlights, mobile torches and portable lamps were used.
We had a mini celebration to formally introduced ourselves before we decided to call it a very long day 😊. It was too cold that night that most of had difficulty to sleep comfortably. What made it worse? the horror stories that was shared during our mini celebration 😂😂😂. Still, we were all safe.
This place is a good spot to experience these 3 elements. A good spot where you can experience peace and serenity as you sit on the boulders where the loud whistling of the wind and constant rumbling of the ocean can be heard as the waves slaps the shore with such forceful passion.
The Valugan Boulder Beach is believed to be formed after Mount Iraya erupted on the year 1454. That means that the boulders where I am sitting is believe to be centuries old up to this date.
Nothing else to do but to take photos as we follow the trail to the last water source before the 2nd peak. We had rests in between only for 5 - 10 mins as we already decided to continue so we can have our lunch and take longer rest.
After more than an hour of non-stop assualts, when reached the 2nd shed where Bulo Elementary School is located. We arrived in Mt. Mangagew ( 1st peak ) and had Halo-halo as a refreshment. Rested for 10 - 15 mins ( including the photo ops ), we continued our journey to the 2nd peak as it'll be for 2 hours and where will have our lunch.
After a prayer led by Dennis, we then started the hike. I was part of the 1 group ( like eriously an amatuer hiker 😂 ). It was like 30 minutes when we started, I was already catching my breath due to the long assault until we finally reached the very first shed.
We arrived at Mt. Purgatory registration area around 5am from Quezon City. After BP check-up and briefing session we then proceeded to Mt. Side Cafe & Restaurant ( near the jum off ) to have our breakfast, orderd or lunck pack, prepared our and meet up with our Tour guides.
A total of 26 KM to reach the 6 peaks, almost 9 hours of hiking ( including our rests ) from the Jump Off, Mt. Mangagew to Mt. Pack to the mossy forest to Mt. Purgagory to Mt. Bakian to Mt. Tangbaw which is the Camp Site where we spent a night and had our official meet and greet session while we drink to celebrate our success.
Another 1 hour of hike from the Camp Site to Mt. Komkompol early morning of the following day.
Lastly, 2 hours of hike from Camp Site through Killer Trail ( this time my left leg's already in too much pain ) down to where our van awaits.
Knowing the number of hours you'll need to spend hiking and seeing the peak of the mountains from ground will either boost your energy or become anxious and then start to assess yourself whether you really can do it or not, specially when you slowly start to feel tired and exhausted from the trails that seemed endless plus the heaviness of what you're carrying.
