Of all the Indonesian tourist places, Kelimutu is a league apart, and certainly one of the most visited.
At the summit of Mount Kelimutu summit, there are three crater lakes in three different colors- red, blue and white. The mysterious part is that those colors change all the time and it's naturally occurring.
Tiwu ata Mbupu (Lake of Old People) is usually blue. Lake Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai (Lake of Young Men and Maidens) is typically green, and Tiwu Ata Polo (Bewitched or Enchanted Lake) is usually red. But they change colors every now and then.
People believe that particular minerals in the water may interact with volcanic gas to create the mercurial shades, but it's hard to know for sure!
So when are you visiting this mystic lake trio?

Alright, ignore my borrowed sunglasses here. I was protecting the old eyes by any means necessary. Also ignore my bad vrikshasana form, I was way off balance in the sand this day. BUT STILL, and this is the important part, I planted my little tree. Crooked and wavy as it was. I planted it. My terrible, horrible day I told y’all about, which I’m now actually two days removed from (woo time difference), was so valuable in the end. Stuff came up that I thought I had dealt with and let go. Turns out I still needed to face some of it. And now after some serious (and some wacky) meditation and crucial inner work, I feel a thousand pounds lighter already. Something shifted in me and I feel...joyful. It turns out the painful work is hella worth it. So if you’re going through stuff, stick with it and take heart. It doesn’t all get done at once and it might hurt like a bitch, but you are light and essence and love, even in the dark. #yogateachertraining#yogatransformation#practiceandalliscoming#yogajourney#thailand#kohphangan#vrikshasana#beachbaby
This was enroute from LAX to PVR. Love the colours. Punch up that dusty rose and it would be a nice colour palette! 🎨

I spent the summer in Italy, one of my favourite countries to visit for travel photography. The series that follows will explore some of my best memories.
Siena’s Cathedral is one of the most impressive historical buildings in the world, including work by most of the Renaissance masters, but what caught my eye was that tortoise. •
