Thanks you NY sunrise for being purpley-grey and perfectly contrasting Lady Liberty 🗽
FUN FACT: Suffragettes protested at the unveiling of the statue in 1886 because though this woman supposedly represented liberty, barely any women in America (dare I say the world?) had the right to vote #Werk 🗽
My latest blog post is now live! Check it out for pretty pictures of autumnal Budapest deserted at sunrise!

Sunset! ☀🌕 I have always loved sunsets ... when I travel it's my time to think about the new things I've done that day and to be thankful for having the opportunity to live that experiences...

What’s up Instagram! 🙋🏻♀️ It has been a few months since I started this account, so I thought I would take a moment to reintroduce myself and welcome everyone new! “Andrea René Abroad” started as a YouTube channel in March of 2018 while I was a TEFL Peace Corps Volunteer in Nicaragua. I originally created the channel as a “how to” channel for people interested in joining the Peace Corps, but it quickly morphed into something quite different when a month later, all 168 volunteers were evacuated from Nicaragua and our service came to a sudden end. I knew that I was not yet done exploring the world and I enjoyed my new hobby, so a few months later I found myself in Australia, working as an au pair, and armed with a new DSLR. ARA is still very much a hobby and experiment, but I have truly enjoyed creating weekly videos and blogs (Andrea Rene Abroad on Wordpress) and figuring out how to take photos.
If you are asking yourself if it is too late to start a new hobby or change the direction of your life entirely— it is not! Prior to March of this year I knew absolutely nothing about creating videos, writing blogs, and taking photos. Heck, I still don’t know anything! But I LOVE the feeling I get when I learn a new video editing trick or discover a new setting on my camera. I am truly enjoying this journey! Thank you to everyone who has supported ARA, it really means a lot! The DMs, the comments on YouTube, the questions on Facebook. I really appreciate it all! Let’s keep doing this!
For once I actually don’t have a ‘next trip’ planned and am enjoying some time at home after a busy year. 😴
Who has plans to go somewhere before the year is up and where to?

Taking a moment to let things all soak in ✨
Three months in South East Asia have been a whirlwind to say the least. It’s a place that makes me feel exhausted and invigorated all at once, constantly pushing me to do more, see more, and be more.
This feeling that I’m being pulled in all directions at once is one that’s become increasingly hard to ignore recently, and I find myself looking for more ways to fully “turn-off” these days.
Some of my favorite ways are - reading a book (last weekend I read a 400 page book in 2 days 🙌🏼)
- going for a walk
- listening to new music - floating in the pool @thesurinphuket
I’ve been meaning to try meditation for a while now as I feel like this would give me some more of the mental silence I need - so I’m curious insta friends, have you tried it? What pushed you to get into meditation? I keep thinking about it but never making the time to try it so I need some help! Would appreciate any thoughts or advice on where to start 😌
