Yesterday I had the pleasure of watching this beautiful Harlan’s Red-tailed Hawk. Lighting could’ve been better but I’ll take what I can get. I hope to run into this bird again since I spotted it just 5 minutes from my house
Fun experience yesterday visiting one of Australia’s top bird-watching locations, the western treatment plant aka sewage lagoons 💩💩. Locals laughed when I told them I *had* to take my Mum to the sewage plant while she was here.
We met up with @ambikangela and @indrabonephotography who did an awesome job helping us with bird ID and showing us the spots in this huge area. Thanks to their help my Mum is now only 18 species away from 1000. 😱
A highlight for me was this lifer Horsfield’s Bronze-Cuckoo.
The Pacific Loon is found in large numbers off the West Coast of the U.S. in winter, when they are gray above and white below. They are a rare visiter to inland reservoirs and lakes during migration and winter. I enjoyed getting to see this one at Smithville Lake in Missouri. Read more about it, and see more images in my latest blog! Link in bio.
