I'm in a reflective mood this morning going through some of my art journals from tiny notebook to A4 size. Art and creativity have always been an integral part of my being, it's always been there for me and something I can always rely on to release inner thoughts and musings, even though I stumble and struggle at times I pick myself up, dust myself off and start again! I've seen some wonderfully nested journals by fellow artists here on IG. Thanks for the inspiration @susieinmn !

#tbt to when I made my first Torn Paper effect cake (using fondant not wafer paper).
Almost 5 years ago my husband retired from the Air Force and we were facing a new and scary start, in that searching for what it felt right at the moment we had to move among 3 different states, Shreveport, LA where I met wonderful people who are my friends to this day and where I can say I had the most loyal and amazing customers in my entire career; Clarksville, TN where in just 9 months of living there my business was growing so fast, however, we had to move to Dayton, OH where my cake business was not that successful. It was on those hard times where I decided to approach different ways to keep my business alive. I opened my Etsy store to ship cupcake and cake toppers worldwide and also decided to make online tutorials that not only would allow me to share my knowledge with cake artists around the world but also would make my business sustainable. I created The Torn Paper tutorial, my most sold tutorial to date, for which I’m so grateful to God and to all of you who bought it.
Not giving up and rather trying to expand my business farther than my physical address was the key to me. I’m glad I tried. The rest is history.
Have you had a similar situation?. I’d love to hear how you have overcome uncertainty and hard times during your cake journey. Let’s hear it 😊✨💪.
