Meet the team Monday!! This is Jayden. Although he’s new(ish) to the Stems crew, he’s already flagged Ryan barking orders at him all day long as one of the worst things about the job. On the flip side, he reckons the rest of the crew and the good vibes far outweigh Ryan’s moaning.
His favourite weather to work in is “sun’s out, guns out”… you can find him every Friday arvo at Stem’s headquarters practicing his bball skills – even if the rest of the crew has packed up and called it a week.
Jayden’s favourite work lunch is a Chicken Kiev frozen meal and you wouldn’t catch him on site without a Dare iced coffee. He’s a big fan of Gold FM, especially if it drowns out Gary’s rants about the Tip.
Some of you may not know this, but Jayden was an amateur triathlete and holds the regional high school high jump record… The team is encouraging his ongoing training by getting him to do high jump over any long objects they come across such as brooms, vacuum cleaners or even the odd aggy pipe held taut.
Jayden is good at fixing shit. He is also known for keeping his work space immaculate and bossing Anthony around. Things he’s not so good at? Taking Mitch seriously and reading plans. When answering the staff bio survey, he also noted he was no good at demo work, but seeing as demo constitutes more than 90% of the job description, we thought we’d slide that into the “working on it” category so he got to keep his job. You’re welcome, mate.
Apart from having bad habits of sleeping in and stealing Ryan’s drill bits (could this be the motivation for Ryan’s moaning…?) Jayden’s moustache provides enough entertainment to keep the crew happy. We reckon he can stick around for a while yet…
No limitarte... Empoderate!!

I've gotten many questions recently about my miter saw cutting style and why I cut the way I do. I use several chopping cuts rather than one smooth cutting motion. Here's why:
Have you ever had kickback on a sliding miter saw? One second you're cutting and the next the saw head is violently headed in your direction!
When you saw rough cut lumber as I often am doing, the edges of the board are often not straight and contain bows that aren't fully supported by the saw fence and by the very nature of a sliding saw you are forcing the lumber into the fence. Well, if the bow in the board creates an unsupported gap, when you push through the cut the two recently separated boards will collapse in on the fence and the back of the boards will pinch the saw blade. Since most of those boards are very heavy and have a lot of mass, the saw head loses the battle and is thrown back at you. To prevent that, use the technique shown here.👍 .
