Man Fai 文輝 apparently serves the best Chiu Chow-style cuttlefish ball noodles soup in town 🦑🍜. The place is always packed and like most shops in HK, do expect to share tables with other people while ordering in your broken Cantonese 🈴🈴. Some of the popular items are written in English, on the wall so point at them if you must 🤓. Beware of the chilli sauce, it's super spicy 🌶! But it did make our noodles soup taste a lot better.
Ian's Nori 4 Treasure came with an abundance of rice noodles, alongside baby cuttlefish, squid tentacles, fish ball and fish wonton. My Nori 8 Treasure was even more generous with so many things that I was sort of guessing the identity of each item. There were sliced fish 🍥, fish wonton 🐠, fish dumpling 🥟, baby cuttlefish 🦑, squid tentacles 👾, pork ball 🐽, fish ball ⚽️ and cuttlefish ball 🏐. Everything was tasty with different textures and I especially loved chewy baby cuttlefish 😻. Although white cuttlefish balls were their signature dish, I wasn't a fan. They were too firm, definitely had some sort of flour contribute to the over-the-top chewiness. The off-white fish balls were more natural in taste and texture but then again there was nothing really natural about these balls 😌. Neither of us appreciated the overwhelming seaweed taste and had to drown the fishiness out with chilli sauce 🌶. The soup instantly became more flavoursome and enjoyable. It was super spicy though, which I loved. Ian... not so much. A good place for a good meal that won't break the bank, might break your stomach though. There were a LOT of noodles!
PS: Watching the uncle prepare noodles was more impressive than eating them. The instant he removed cooked noodles out of the pot of boiling hot water with his right hand, he placed them in a bowl while the left hand immediately scooped up a heap of cold noodles and placed them in the ladle. And the process continued. Non-stop. 👏

Claimed to be the "best dimsum store in Hong Kong", #DimDimSum was not the best dimsum store in Hong Kong 😑. It's probably one of the most affordable with the most variety but far from the best. Make sure you get here early, especially on the weekend 🕙. We went on a Saturday, arrived 5 minutes after opening time and the room of 40+ seats was already half full. 5 minutes later there was no empty seats and a line outside 😱. Dimsum is a competitive sport over there.
We ordered 9 items and har gao 🦐 was the best, perfectly plump and satisfying in every bite. Veggie dumplings 🌿 were under seasoned, skin too thick and starchy. Siu mai 🐽 had a strange mushy pork texture but tasted nice. I loved the chicken feet's braising liquid 🐤 but they weren't braised long enough. Meat wasn't loose and falling off the bone. Shanghai soup dumplings 💦 were on the salty side, too much soy sauce in the filling and skin was too thick. Beef tripe 🐮 was well-cooked and chewy, nice peppery kick but a bit sweet for my taste. Rice flour rolls 🐖 were grainy and a lot stickier than most places but I didn't mind, filled with fatty mince-sized BBQ pork. Radish cake 🍥 was delicious, pan-fried till golden, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and super well-seasoned. Wontons in chilli oil 🌶 were average, tiny kick of chilli but nowhere near enough. Also there was wayyy too much garlic. Don't plan on kissing anyone unless they've had the same dish 🤐. Even then you probably don't want the extra garlic in your mouth.
Despite the imperfections, our bill was super cheap. All that, plus a drink each came to ~AUD 45. No service fees, ding ding ding!
