Looking back at last years Spring weddings and loved Antonia’s choice of flowers incorporating local teasels for a textual, seasonal touch 👌🏻

I’ve dabbled in the past with site specific art, environmental art. Here’s an image captured at Dungeness Beach, the sculpture made with mild steel, spot welded and interwoven with copper piping and steel wire. I had lessons at Jonathan’s forge in wrotham. The sculpture represents an oversized birds nest and is placed in amongst the teasels on what’s known locally as the ‘the desert’ at Dungeness, birdwatchers visit in the hope of finding rare birds. Second image leaning up against the breaker. This sculpture now rests in my own garden under a large pine. #sitespecificart#sculpture#gardensculpture#environmentalart#teasels#specificlocale#abstract#playingwithscale
Teasels on my mind. In my yard. Painted onto the coffee cup I drink from this morning. Brought here from England in the 1800’s to be used for raising the nap on wool. Now, these beautiful “weeds” are now being looked at as a useful medicine for Lyme disease— their roots. If so inclined, one could eat their baby leaves. I stalk them for their beauty. Teasels create fine art with their spiny bracts, there’s music in those elegant curls. This teasel planted itself in my front garden, right there with the Peonies and tulips. I guess it didn’t want me to have to search for inspiration. #iloveteasels
These teasels are all that’s currently left in Alfie’s wildflower meadow. I’m told that they are a good food source for goldfinches through the winter so I was careful to leave them when the rest of the meadow was cut. I haven’t spotted any goldfinches yet but they look beautiful anyway #winter#teasels#earlymorning#mist#cotswolds
One of my favourite things about the festive season is the #christmasdecorations! I LOVE dressing the tree with the treasures and trinkets we have collected over the years. They look particularly lovely this year as we have a beautiful tree from @finepinesuk ☺️🎄 I'm also pleased with my #rustic#homemade winter bunting. The #teasels have a touch of glitter so that they appear to be covered in a fine layer of frost! Now if only we could complete the festive look by being able to put presents under the tree BEFORE the big day...but sadly we can only get these out on Christmas morning or they end up being destroyed, don't they @alfiesausagedog ?!!! 🙄
