"And they will rise from their graves to march upon the world of the living.
Each and every mortal that falls will swell their numbers until only a world of darkness remains.
Only then will the world know of the eternal order that lies within the peace of Undeath."
My New Years resolution was to buy less games, but when I saw the announcement for New Frontiers I caved. To get in the mood we put Roll for the Galaxy + Ambition expansion on the table last night which is also getting an expansion next month: Rivals! #rollforthegalaxy#newfrontiers#riograndegames#boardgames
HUGE thanks to every who tuned into our Pokemon 5e ONE-SHOT last night 🙌🏻🎲 @smoothnerdygentleman had a blast with his first DM experience and our players old and new really dug the new mechanics. Although we didn't finish the story (as most first time DM games happen) everyone agreed they would love to play again and finish the story. So look our for PART 2 of Pokemon 5E in the future. If you werent able to check it out during stream, tap the link in bio to see how we did 🤙🏻 #dicecreamsandwich
Adorable, adorable crabs abound in the card game Crabs!, a quick card game about rounding up and selling crabs that we backed on a whim a while back. Yet the art may be the most praise we have for this one, unfortunately.
We generally like games from publishers Moaideas and Daily Magic Games, but boy did this one fall flat for us.
In Crabs!, players have a hand of crab cards varying from 1-5. Each turn you can take one of six actions to either pick up or swap crab cards from a central pool on the table, or you can spend a bunch of them from your hand to ‘catch’ one from among them to put in front of you. The higher the sum of crabs you spend, the higher valued crab you get to keep. In turn, you will then be able to sell a set of them to a handful of vendors looking for specific sets of card values, with vendors wanting more and higher valued crabs worth more VP.
The whole thing is a race to 25 VP, which makes it fairly simple. But that doesn’t necessarily make it great. For one, it’s a bit reductionist, in that of the six actions, there’s a good chance you’ll never use two of them, as picking up cards (despite a hand limit) is always better than swapping cards out. But this also reduces strategy, essentially making it a Ticket to Ride motif where you want to collect a big pile of crabs, cash them in for the one you’re chasing, and repeat until you have enough VP to win. Which usually only requires 2-3 vendor cards if done right.
The other side of that coin, however, is that because which crabs you have caught are public, it telegraphs to everyone else which vendor(s) you’re working towards, which can easily mean if two or more people are chasing the same one, it can be stolen out from under you at the least opportune moment, making catching up to the leader all the more difficult.
The art is adorable though, which alone almost makes it worth keeping, and does make for some fun PG-13 humor. But...no. Crabs! is a game we’d play again if asked, but sadly, we’re probably returning this one back out to sea.
Big thanks to @pocketdimensionpodcast for all the hooks this week. Go give them a follow and listen to the newest episode!

Gnomes are an odd bunch, but they all sing and dance relatively well... While we all think Norm’s songs are a little creepy, he was insistent we share this one since he was so excited about all the dice dungeons the apprentice finished. Head to itemwoodworks.com/shop to see them all. #normspeaks#dicedungeon

Каждая коробка хранит воспоминания о многих часах прекрасно проведенного времени, радостных лицах игроков, нервах, судорожных бросках кубиков и тактично продуманных ходах.
Хвала тем, кто придумал настольные игры!

This is a "berry" good ally for the adventuring party to connect with. 🍇🤝⠀
What's Next: Where does this mound typically reside? Is it one of many? How can the party convince it to share its goodberries?
