Tasty Tuesday 😋 | Day 20 #NutritiousNovember
We know you love the recipes we dish up for Tasty Tuesday. Today we're addressing the nutrients you put on your skin, hair, teeth, nails etc. IF YOU CAN'T EAT IT DON'T PUT IN ON YOU (Skin, Hair, Teeth, Nails etc)😳. If you aren't sure what's in it read the label. If you aren't sure what something is google it - then google the effects of it. Chances are if you can't pronounce it & wouldn't eat it, it's doing harm to your body. "Oh but I'm not eating it?" you think innocently. That's precisely the problem. We think that government regulations & businesses have our backs. Unfortunately, usually, their primary interest is $ & many of the products on shelves aren't tested.
Johnson & Johnson, for example, have been taken to court & lost cases based on ingredients in their products causing illness & disease - including cancer. Both their baby shampoo & talc powder contain known carcinogens!😳Were they aware of this at the time they were created, probably not, but over the years they have become aware & done nothing about it, putting millions of people at risk. As consumers, WE need to check. It's not that convenient. but it's cheaper than the medical bills the disease causes & other side effects.
Despite not consuming via the digestive system to be absorbed into our blood & cells; these ingredients can be absorbed via the skin and enter the blood & cells from there. These ingredients cause allergies, dis-ease, abrupt hormones and other illnesses.
Alternatives? Coconut oil🥥(Cold Pressed Extra Virgin if you can get it) is best, it has so many amazing benefits from moisturiser, to sunscreen (spf 6), makeup remover & it's one of the best oils to cook with. While we're not suggesting actually eating anything else, if the ingredients are natural & preferably organic that is the best for you & the planet. @vitalitylifeorganics & @vitalitylifebeauty also have great clean, natural🌿 ranges!

This naughty little boy just broke my phone AGAIN.
last week he broke my juicer that I've been using everyday for the past 10 years (it was the best wedding gift) and two weeks after I recieved a brand new computer he smashed the screen with a crystal.
So, apologies in advance if you don't hear from us on here for a little while. 😣😣😣
🐘BABY ELEPHANT WALK:
A close up of our customised name print which creates memories for years to come. It’s been a popular choice to welcome new arrivals + loved sending a few last week.💜Available via the site in a selection of palettes. x #babyelephantwalk
When you buy something individually and carefully handmade, you will pay a lot more than you would if you bought a mass-produced version, where each thing is identical and made by a machine. Some people use this reasoning to dismiss the idea of buying hand made things. If you are one of those people, I’m not sure why you’re following me. But I guess you probably aren’t, and that you don’t need convincing why. Please ask away if you’d like to know more about he process of making, by the way. Anyway, here’s to the @justacard campaign. Please #shopindependent if you can afford to ( and for so many years I couldn’t afford to, so I understand if you can’t). If you’re in Bristol, you can enjoy just being in the very beautiful @albatrosscafebristol if you seek out my work, because that’s the only place you can buy it. 😊 #justacard

What you say - “I’m a vegan”, what everyone hears “I don’t wear fast fashion, I don’t use any single use plastic, I don’t use any non vegan skin products, I am a feminist, I recycle everything, I use eco friendly cleaning products” I could go on...
I was listening to @adultingpod this morning and I can’t explain how much @uhnonee hit the nail on the head with her comments about how once you share something you are doing such as eating more plant based, trying to be more environmentally friendly etc there is immediately a level of expectation placed on your shoulders and you set yourself up for a barrage of comments, opinions, judgements from everyone who is suddenly waiting for a slip up. For example, if I go to a bar and they put a plastic straw in my drink (I’m getting better at asking them to not put it in), I am the one who gets the comment about single use plastic. If I buy some veg packaged in plastic film, I am the one being unfriendly to the environment. If I buy clothes from a fast fashion outlet, I don’t care about the environment/human rights. I feel uneasy every day about what I could do better, even how to talk about it.
When you label yourself you set yourself up. It’s exhausting and draining. I can’t quite make sense of it but trying to do everything right is so hard. Even this picture - I purposefully chose because I had a single use coffee cup, it’s recyclable because I asked for it without the plastic lid but it will still draw judgement I’m sure but sick of hiding not so perfect moments
Moving forward I am just going to focus on making mindful decisions every day. I don’t eat meat, I very very rarely eat something with a dairy product in sometimes by accident through being slack and feeling guilty afterwards. I’m tired, it’s meant to be rewarding, it’s meant to be fun. This isn’t a “I’m so good I’m a vegan” far from it, it’s a reminder to focus on your own daily decisions and what YOU are doing to be better. We can all be better but we can’t be perfect.
So we STILL have prizes coming through the door to go into the #7DaysofSustainableSanta Grand Prize. Up today is an ‘all you need’ combo from Nat at @theecobrush including two cool bamboo toothbrush travel cases, 2 bamboo toothbrushes and two Eco Flosses (fully compostable by the way). Plastic toothbrushes are a big contributor to landfill – over 4.7 billion of the things are produced every year worldwide...😮 The ECO Brush has a range of sustainable bamboo toothbrushes and when you've finished with the brush, the handle is completely compostable!! How neat is that..??!! Check out the range in their Green Elephant Store.
Thanks so much for your generous support Nat xx
#7DaysofSustainableSanta kicked off today and you have chances to win every day for 7 days!! And we're saving the best until last...😉

We often share posts on loose leaf tea however we always have comments from others saying they never knew tea bags were bad so heres another tea post. Most tea bags are made from plastic nor are they compostable or recyclable.
. . .
It’s tea season! With this cooler weather, I’ve started drinking more herbal tea. Before I discovered zero waste, I bought pre-packaged tea bags. These bags sometimes were recyclable, sometimes were not, and were commonly sealed with glue (which I was drinking?! Hmmm...). And I’d easily pay $6 a box for tea. When I started shopping @lakewindsfoodcoop, I discovered their awesome bulk tea section. I could find a wide variety of loose leaf tea and it was all very affordable. I was so happy I could avoid the packaging waste (no more strings and tags for me!). I found a secondhand tea ball @shopjunket and I was good to go 😊 And a bonus is I can dump my used tea leaves into my compost- winning!
