A friend asked me today about fasting because that’s what a co-worker told this person they were doing to lose weight.
Here was my response and I felt this was beneficial information for everyone to read.
Unrelated to the conversation, here is my rant: The diet industry makes so much money on garbage supplements, meal replacement shakes, and is in a constant state of diet recycling (keto is just Atkins all over again). It baffles me that people will pay hundreds of dollars a month for some BS shakes, but won’t invest that same amount of money into an actual person, with an education, who can provide real support and accountability to help them reach their goals in a sustainable way while EDUCATING them on how to maintain their results, all because those supplements MIGHT get them the results faster while, in most cases, causing twice as much rebound weight because of
1. A severe calorie deficit
2. Not learning new habits and behaviors that help them design a balanced meal and exercise routine.
Weight loss does not have to cost you a crap ton of money.
Weight loss does not have to be this overcomplicated endeavor that causes you to continuously spin your wheels.
Weight loss does NOT have to destroy your relationship with food nor does it have to demonize foods or macronutrient groups.
You can still eat foods you enjoy while losing weight. You really don’t have to cut carbs, unless that is long-term sustainable for you.
You really don’t need shakes, unless that is something you enjoy doing.
Stop jumping on bandwagons, stop wasting your money. It’s 2019, let’s start focusing on real food, real results, and real education.
You should diet the way you would live, just with less food.
Ok, rant over. #nutritioncoach#nutrition#personaltrainer#nasmcertifiedpersonaltrainer#dietitianinthemaking#rd2be#stopyoyodieting#realresults#progress#fitnesscoach#bodybuilding#igfit#igfitfam#realtalk#sustainability#caloriedeficit
As an organization, one of our goals is to accelerate progress in the fight against childhood hunger. It's not an easy task. But with your help, and our vision for the future, we can defeat childhood hunger.
I Volunteer to feed a sick child today.. A cause for humanity is a call for all... God bless every heart that cares for this souls.. The suffering of children is one of the most difficult things to witness. Especially vulnerable to the effects of poverty and conflict, children are the hardest hit when faced with challenges that even adults would find difficult to cope with.
I’m a very busy bee today finishing off these beauts. Custom made shelving and a number of our popular Bath Caddy’s. I love my work and wouldn’t have it any other way!

We are very saddened to learn that thousands of baby Emperor chicks have drowned when the sea-ice they were born on collapsed. Although the adults were able to swim away, the chicks, due to their age, hadn’t grown the necessary feathers to be able to swim. This occurred in 2016, but the colony has shown no sign of trying to re-establish itself since then. Even though Antarctica is one of the most inhospitable places on earth, it is the home of the Emperor Penguin throughout winter. If climate change continues on its current trajectory, the Emperor Penguin faces an uncertain future. It’s time to make a real difference.

Mein liebstes "Verwurstungsgericht": Quiche 🍽️ Hier kommt alles an Gemüse rein was "weg muss".

Last year, for Fashion Revolution Week, Lucy, The Humblebrag's founder jumped into bed with two sustainable fashion heavyweights at @conscioushotels Amsterdam to expose the naked truth on transparency in fashion. .
The brainchild and concept of @charlieplusmary, @shahciara and @tonytonnaer reflected on the challenges within the industry to embrace transparency and the good, the bad, and the ugly as part of their journeys. .
With the number of “conscious consumers” rising, both pointed to the issue of greenwashing as a major concern. .
Tony said: “You have to be careful about big brands making tiny steps to improve their products, and using these actions as part of their marketing campaigns.” They outlined that claims to ‘do good’ need to be backed by bigger, long-term commitments on the ground.
Ciara said: “On the one hand, this trend shows that brands are wanting to improve their products and supply chains, but I encourage people to remain skeptical; do research and ask questions. Hold brands accountable. There’s a lot of talk — now’s the time to actually do something.”

Have you ever considered growing your own cut flowers?
Not only is it much cheaper than buying a bouquet from the shops... its also infinitely more sustainable. Many flowers sold in the UK are shipped from overseas... creating a carbon footprint for something that could come from your own back garden (with all the joys and satisfaction of watching them grow! and not to mention a feast for the local bees 🐝). #Lexhamlife#Sustainability#Growyourown
“The new brand illustrates the company’s vision to be friendly, not fear-mongering.” The team has designed the brand identity for the world’s first fully biodegradable and sustainably-sourced water bottle, @choosewater. The identity takes inspiration from the ocean, with distinct marine animal silhouettes and a simple, sophisticated colour palette to complement the bottle’s natural materials. How to get involved:
1. Live your life. Keep an eye out for areas of improvement - like businesses you love to support but dont love the plastic packaging.
2. Find out who to contact. I find it most effective to email CEOs, MDs and other high up people. Put the eco issue on their radar. You can google the name of the company and the title to find who your contact is. Most of the time this is public info.
3. You can find their email by using the website rocketreach.co which is free to join and use. Simply enter the persons name and it reveals their contact info. Simply choose the company email you are contacting and you're ready to rock and roll!
4. Construct your email! If you want to write one from scratch, you can do so by following my guide (link in my bio) or copy and paste my demo email (link in bio) 😘 send that baby!! 5. Positive feedback?! Let us know so we can sing your praises and also show that businesses are moving in the right direction!! Let's make this movement spread!! You will get so addicted to this, it's the most empowering and rewarding feeling being an agent of powerful change. Go out and kick some ass guys, let's make this a revolution to remember!! 😍💪🏽👏🥂✨

Like fossils of the future, this is a not-so-natural stone, named “plastiglomerate”, the result of plastic, fusing with shells, sand and other natural materials in the ocean. Equally beautiful and horrific, but at the least tangible reminder off what we throw away and how nature is responding. What do you think? We are interested to see what will become of this stone...

Did you know... even though silver lined tetra packs have a ♻️ on them... they are actually not recycled here in Perth 😱
This packaging consists of several layers of paper board, plastic and aluminium all bonded together with adhesives.
The advantages of this type of packaging is that nutrients and freshness are locked tightly into the carton, sterilised and protected from light - meaning they don’t have to be refrigerated before opening.
The problem with this packaging is that even though the individual layers of materials “could” technically be recycled (which I think must be how the manufacturers get away with putting the ♻️ on the package)... the cost, technology, and energy required to do so far exceeds the value of the recycled end product.
This means that ALL... yes ALL tetra packs including long life milks and milk alternatives, juices, kids size juices, cooking stock - and any other product packaged in silver lined tetra packs will indeed go to landfill in Perth.
If you research further you might find info like: Most councils in Australia collect for recycling. If your council accepts these silver lined tetra packs for recycling, please ask the question... where do they go and how are they recycled? I am not aware of any facility in Australia with the capacity or machinery required to soak the tetra packs, and extract each individual recyclable component for future use. Please do let me know if you find one though.
Are there alternatives? Yes.
✅Look for paperboard alternatives like the 1L milk cartons since these may actually be recycled.
✅DIY oat milk.
✅Check out @ulu_hye for some awesome nut and hemp alternatives.
✅ Try @sunnydaledairy for local WA milk in glass bottles which can be returned for re-use 👍
Who is going to win this tug of war. On one side the richest and most powerful industries that have ever existed, with only one goal - profits and prepared to do anything to protect those profits.
On the other side science and a growing group of committed people who have realized that we are destroying our environment and you can't eat money.
People power can change everything and the biggest danger to the planet is apathy.
We are the planet's last line of defence. History will remember people like us as hero's, the saviors of the natural world, and the human race.
We have to end this madness!
So what can you do?
Here are a few things : ➡Reduce your own carbon footprint by wasting less, eating less red meat and switching to renewable energy where possible. ➡Talk to your friends, colleges and family about climate change. ➡Tag someone and use climate change messages in your feed. ➡Like and comment on climate change messages to increase their reach. ➡Join a local group like #schoolstrike#extinctionrebellion#stopadani#fridaysforfuture#parentsforfuture
And most importantly, ➡Vote for the climate! 👉 #icaremovement
Do you care about the planet? 🌏
These are just a few varieties of the chillies grown at @emiratesbiofarm ! Really enjoyed the tour of the farm and doing the chillies taste test! It’s amazing to know that the same breed of chillies can differ in spice levels if they are plucked from a different plant/ amount of watering etc... I really enjoyed the different smells, spice levels and sweetness of each individual breed!
