SUN VALLEY, CA – REUNITED
How much value would you put on having your lost dog returned back to you? $25? $50? $100? $500? This week, I saw a Craigslist ad for a lost Chihuahua in Sun Valley named Pee Wee. His owner was offering $5000 for his safe return.
I never take rewards, so the $5000 reward was of no value to me, but I wondered why was Pee Wee so special to his Dad, that he would offer that kind of reward. I asked, and Andy explained to me that Pee Wee is all that he has in his life. Andy has no family, and being disabled from a back injury, Pee Wee is his comfort companion. Pee Wee gives him an endless supply of unconditional love and wet kisses, is non-judgmental and loyal, and is truly this man’s best friend. Previously homeless, Andy was willing to empty his bank account to get Pee Wee back, because Pee Wee is his world, the light and love in his life, his reason for living.
Pee Wee lives in Hollywood, but was lost near Sunland Park. His Dad searched for days hoping for a sighting, but was not successful.
Pee Wee is back home now, recuperating from his adventure, and Andy is once again enjoying the physical, emotional, and social benefits of his companionship.
Knowing Andy was willing to give up everything he had to get Pee Wee back brought tears to my eyes. After we spoke, I realized that as pet owners, we cannot put a price tag on the extraordinary affect our pets have in our lives. Their love and companionship is priceless.
Welcome home, Pee Wee. ❤
