This is what COURAGE and BRAVERY looked like in my world yesterday. It was the Masonator feeling scared to get his cast off, being told it wouldn’t hurt, yet not really knowing. He expressed his fear and worked through it! I told him “it’s okay to be scared.” And “being scared doesn’t me we don’t do it”. He did it! He actually giggled his whole way through it after the process of removing his cast was explained to him. He said “it really just tickles.” Mason’s left arm is about 80% healed and will continue to heal on his own with no cast or splint. The doctor asked that he be careful for a few weeks (though “being careful” does not really resonate with this 5 year old) and follow up with another X-ray in 3 weeks.
I am amazed by his courage and bravery and grateful I got to be right by his side to witness it.
Happy Thoughtful Thursday!
