unrelated caption! i know that i've recently become quite involved in activism, specifically for gun control, but the person who truly inspired inspired me to get involved is the Incredible @adameli ! i've been following his work for a while, and having seen the formation of @voices4_ was honestly a turning point for how i viewed the world and my place in it. watching everyone at brighton beach pride today honestly made me tear up A Lot, seeing so much support for queer (+ muslim!) immigrants was something i never thought would happen in america. you truly are a force for good and a voice for those who are silenced, adam. you really inspired me and continue to do so. i send you all my admiration and pride from texas suburbia!

“The best part of getting lost is finding yourself” ☺️ once in awhile ⛰
We rolled into South Carolina for a few short days with zero plans. At a rural Airbnb with a forecast full of rain, we weren't expecting to see much.
But, it turns out one of the least-visited U.S. National Parks was just 10 minutes away. It's exactly what we were looking for!
Congaree National Park is home to the tallest deciduous forest in the Eastern United States. One loblolly pine is more than 150 feet tall! A two-mile boardwalk winds through the lowland swamp. And it's full of turtles, snakes, fish, and birds - tons of photo ops.
In late May each year (right now), it's also home to the most amazing synchronous firefly display which is incredibly rare and every bit as awesome as it sounds.
We woke up at 4AM to catch the sunrise at Cape Spear, the most Easterly point of North America. Can’t wait to show you guys the video that I’ve been working on these for past few days with @fordcanada and their new #fordecosport! 🙏🏻
Are you wondering why I’m staring at my finger? I know it’s out of focus, but believe me, it’s not a wart or a pimple, it’s a ladybug! In fact, the Airbnb was full of them! It was quite a surprise for us. I met Maki in Melbourne through a language exchange website and would often meet up with her at a park in the city. One day, we were interrupted by a friendly ladybug and since then they have become somewhat special to us. So much so that her birthday present last year was a ladybug hot water bottle (which she brought with her on this trip!) But enough about ladybugs, now it’s time to talk about food!
The night before we used the irori to cook yakiniku. Some noteworthy ingredients included garlic sprouts (they’re sweet and taste amazing!) and of course some Miyazaki beef. You can get free wagyu fat from the supermarket to grease the plate before cooking. When that delicious fat drips onto the hot coals, the ingredients are infused with the most amazing taste ever. I’d bought wagyu from Costco in Melbourne once before, but while the meat is tender, it fails to capture that amazing wagyu taste. Of course, we had to enjoy it alongside some Miyazaki craft beer and shochu.

The best day on the trail this year so far! Hiking season has begun and @tourismwellsgray will be my place to go many times this summer. The North Rim Helmcken Falls trail is my favourite so far. Nice and easy, a good trail to train on for running. So many people were stopping where the snow started. The snow is only for 100m-ish and then you’re back on the dirt with plenty of places to park your behind and enjoy the view. 😎

Happy Birthday Tyler!!! Many more adventures to come 👹
Enjoying Germany’s gems - what a beautiful way to start the day. Btw, this was probably the coldest water I’ve been in for a long time, I could barely breathe 😄
