SUCH. A. FUN. LESSON!!! Mapmaking for the win! All kids, from my 4 year old to my 6th graders in class LOVED, LOVED making these pirate maps. ⚓️🗺🖤✖️☠️
✖️I used a thin paper that crumples easy, like parchment paper. Have kids tear off the edges and crumple into a ball several times, then flatten.
✖️Discuss maps, and map features. Talk about items that may be included on a pirate map. Brainstorm symbols that can be drawn for said items.
✖️Set them loose with pencils first for the kids that like things perfect before using Sharpies, or Sharpies straight away for the kids that just can’t wait.
✖️Have kids color some areas in with the black Sharpies to make them pop.
✖️Lastly, add watercolor.
✖️If you are a teacher, get ready for every kid to want to tell you about every last tiny detail of their maps. They LOVE-LOVE-LOVED this project. 🖤
This Pom Pom Dot Puzzles by @littleoneslearn is the perfect rainy day activity for toddlers (ages 3-5)! Your toddler will exercise his/her motor skills, practice using glue and learn color matching plus you get a pretty rainbow to hang up. 🌈
"Creativity is the freest form of self-expression. There is nothing more satisfying and fulfilling for children than to be able to express themselves openly and without judgment. The ability to be creative, to create something from personal feelings and experiences, can reflect and nurture children's emotional health. The experiences children have during their first years of life can significantly enhance the development of their creativity." - @pbs
Ocean says, “Yay! Keiki Camp!!” Did you guys know I’m hosting a kids day camp in St Augustine?? Our theme is SUP & Eco - kids will get daily paddleboard lessons with highly certified instructors (SUP Yoga Center, ACA, First Aid/CPR), learn about one special way each day we can reduce our carbon footprint (with a special gift to add to their goodie bags!), plus fun beach games and eco scavenger hunt!! Our final day will be a super fun paddleboard race! I’m so looking forward to spreading not only the love of SUP, but encouraging the next generation to get outside and teaching them lots of ways to reduce their carbon footprint (and share with their friends!). If you know someone with a Keiki (kiddo/munchkin/half pint/cutie/child) age 7-12, send them to our website or tag them here!! ☺️🐢🌺💦🐠🌞🌎 More info in the comments!
