Going from being a Spartan racer to a Spartan Zone Leader, you get to see some of the behind-the-scenes work that go into planning and organizing a successful Spartan Race. I may not have run the entire course this time, but I have heard so many positives and just want to add that this has been the best Spartan Race I've seen in HK so far. I really must tip my hat🎩 off to the amazing help, strength and support from the Malaysian build crew. Building the obstacles is tough, hard work. They arrive about 1 week before race day to start building the course. And another 3 days after the race to take it all down and load in containers. I appreciate their fast, quick and calm approach to fixing obstacles and solving any issues while the race was ongoing. I met one or two of them during the last Spartan Race in April at Ha Pak Nai, but working with them again for this race was just so much fun! I miss my Spartan fam already 😊 @spartanracehk#Spartan#SpartanRaceHK#SpartanHK#SpartanRace#KamTin#HongKong#SpartanFamily
I've been yearning for this little black piece of plastic for over a year. It means I get to finally climb the warped wall (and that my skills are improving.)
Means bigger falls, big catches causing flight, more trust in my skills, better technique, and more.
Tonight I took my first fall(s), and caught some big falls, and learned to fly. Most importantly, I learned to trust more in myself and abilities. My first lead climb on the warped wall was a 5.10ab. I just started to clean climb that level on top rope within the last month. It wasn't a clean climb on lead, however I made it to the top. Pretty stoked to say the least. But I wouldn't be here without the encouragement and teaching of some really awesome climbers.
Carrying a great deal of weight this week to try to get as much done as possible before I head out on a road trip to the Grand Canyon, the Vegas spartan races, and some other fun adventures in store for next week!
Now back in March I started what I thought would be impossible to lose weight but I had my biggest motivation and inspiration pushing me everyday some days it was hard and some days I slacked off because of life, work, injuries. But she always pushed me to break my limits and that woman is @lacikaysomers
My season ended with the park service and moved back to San Antonio. Since then I have turned up the heat times ten. I’m in the gym twice a day. I’ve pushed so hard that. I went from fitting into 3xl then 2xl and then xl and now into a large! That’s right a large! I’ve lost over fifty pounds! Put on muscle! I look buff and skinny at the same time! Which what I was going for!
Someone told me one day your stomach is the last thing I would lose. So from then on it was on like donkey Kong! I work out my abs every single day in between sets. I lift do pull ups and so much more along with cardio.
Now as I focus in on my next goal to get ripped. Nothing is gonna stop me from achieving my goals! I have a great supporting cast backing me up. I will come back next season for 2019 in March to start spartan racing in San Antonio. I’m gonna crush it. I’m gonna be stronger lighter buff skinny and ripped!
So ladies and gentlemen grab your popcorn and sit back and watch as I take the world on by storm!
This goes to show if your willing to put in the hard work dedication! You can do anything you set your mind too. Look at me I did and I’m crushing it like never before!
Recovery from baby #2 is slow going, even on an allergen free diet. I think this time around I know too many of the good allergen free sweets (looking at you Enjoy Life) whereas the first time it took a while to find things that didn't taste awful. This was only 6 months postpartum with my first. Today I see this and I'm simply proud of my body for doing so many amazing things. I created two beautiful little girls, and the rest will fall into place if I keep working towards my goals. 😊
“As long as I’m having fun, I’m not quitting.” And dammit this sport is fun! Entertaining more stadium races this upcoming year along w/ racing a few non-championship events out of pure enjoyment for this sport. What’s on your 2019 race agenda? #spartanup
You will never be Motivated 💯 % of the time. Go ahead & come to grips with this. “I don’t FEEL like it” will keep you in a rut. B/c success lies in the discomfort, in the ‘blah’ days, rain or shine... you gotta decide within yourself, “I grind for ME. I deserve this.” 🤝🤨 Photo: @sonofapickett#beastmode#discipline#fitnessmotivation#gains
What's the one thing you'll cherish most about the 2018 Spartan season?
I cannot believe that the 2018 Spartan season is coming to a close for me this weekend !
This was a season that I'll never forget and one that I will cherish close to my heart for a long time .
It was filled with people, places, and things that lifted me up and made me want to be a better person and racer . The people of this sport are full of support for one another. Even our competition. This year proved to be the season of being each other's biggest fans and wishing only the best for one another .
It's been an amazing and eventful few years. I set goals and I conquered them. I'm doing things I never could have dreamed for myself. I know you all know exactly what I'm talking about ...you're doing them, too !
Now it's time to make a new plan, set some new goals, and execute .
