in 2010, i climbed the many steps of notre dame one early morning with a friend before everyone was awake. atop this cathedral, I partook in moments still engrained in my memory— this being my favorite of all. .
i perched my arms over the rails, chin cupped between my hands, and looked out upon the rest of paris alongside these gargoyles surveying the city for a good long while in absolute silence. i saw what they saw for hundreds of years every single day. i was in awe of the detail, the architecture, the infamous bells, and most of all, the view this place offered over the seine river. what a sad day... 🇫🇷
