Did you get a chance to catch our ED Jessica Hannon and vendor Mark Irvine on @globalnews earlier this month? Thank you @globalbc for having us and believing in the power of meaningful employment! Watch the full video down below.
This holiday season, Megaphone needs you! Megaphone supporters provide meaningful work for low-income and homeless people across Vancouver and Victoria. We simply can't do our work without your support. We need to raise $25,000 by the end of the year to support more vendors like Mark. Would you step up with a $25 gift by the end of the year?

And… that’s it from us for 2018! ⠀
What. A Year. You can find a round-up of all our shenanigans for the year in our blog post linked in our bio, but *spoiler alert*… I’m so ridiculously proud to say that in December, we hit a huge fundraising milestone and have now raised over £5000.00 for a range of chronic illness causes! ⠀
It goes without saying that we’re so thankful to each and every individual who has supported us throughout the year. Your support has allowed us to advocate, create accessible volunteering opportunities, remind people they’re not alone, release a charity book, and send Spoonie Survival Kits to deserving recipients in 18 different countries. It doesn’t even feel real sometimes.⠀
And I’ll try not to waffle, but on a personal note, some of you will know that my circumstances changed quite a lot this year. I now balance a new career alongside self-employment, running Spoonie Survival Kits, advocacy work, and looking after my own health too. Keeping on top of all things SSK this year has been tough, really tough if I'm being honest, and if it wasn’t for the support and encouragement of others, Spoonie Survival Kits would have come to an end this year. That said, I now feel more motivated than ever to keep this thing going in any way I can, and I really hope you’ll take a moment to read the blog post and acknowledge the wonderful humans who encourage me to keep moving forwards every single day.⠀
So, all that's left to say now is one more huge thank you, to every single person that's supported us in any way, shape or form in 2018. Your kindness and support is such a huge part of the reason we do this, and you play an integral role in helping us to make others happy. We're off for some much needed rest and recuperation time now, but we're looking forward to catching up with you in 2019 already. Take care, and here's to the healthiest and happiest year possible for us all!⠀
Big love, squishy hugs and an abundance spoons,⠀

"We have something to be proud of now. To leave the house, work, earn & set an example for our children—it’s everything.” ⠀
When artisan Seema first joined Anchal, she was very timid, submissive and almost fearful by nature. Today she had grown into a strong, bold woman. She is now the breadwinner of her family, using her income to provide daily food, school fees for her children, medicine for her unemployed husband, and savings for the family's future. She carries a huge responsibility in her family, but she is not scared anymore as joining Anchal has provided her with incredible opportunity.⠀
You can help Seema continue to grow and find success with Anchal as a Project Assistant. A donation as little as $25 can change her life. Visit the link in our bio to give her the gift of empowerment in 2019.⠀

We are so thankful to Christine Kumchy and all of the artists, volunteers, vendors and patrons who helped bring the second Ottawa Colouring Book for Anyone to life and who purchased one, two or even five books!!!
For the second year in a row, they have helped to fund one of our free 12 week art workshops - this year for Ability First Ottawa.
Programming for youth of Ability First Ottawa, starts Monday, August 6. We will be announcing all the dates and activities on our website soon.
We are so humbled and thankful for the help. Here we are receiving the funds (2K!!) from the second Ottawa Colouring Book for Anyone. Christine - you are one beautiful soul.
We can't wait for the third colouring book to come out!!!
Do you have already intentions for the next year? Something you want to change or try out?⠀
As mentioned in the previous post, December is for me all about reflecting and new directing. Letting go off things that are not serving anymore and make space for new experiences. The last days I asked myself this big questions again, which I also asked myself when I decided to quit my old job: « Why am I here, and why do I do what I am doing? »
Meanwhile, it’s easy for me to answer this question, and I just slightly change the course of HOW I do it over time. What drives me is a strong desire to care for our planet, so that further generation can live a happy life (sounds very cheesy but when I dig deeper to the core, that’s what there is). In the beginning of my journey the whole story looked way different and it took me quite a while to figure out how I want to change something. Do I need to be a scientist? Do I need to work for a big non-profit? The answer I would give now is: Every skill can be used for something good and we have already everything we need to be part of this new movement.
Take one things that moves you deep in your heart and combine it with something you are good an passionate about- et voilà - here is your recipe for impact <3⠀
How are you using your skill to make this world a better place? Would you like to try out which impact you can have in the New Year? ⠀
Tell me in the comments, I would love to hear your perspectives ✨
