This week I did a few things I am proud of:
1) I ran on a treadmill-true life, I hate running. I am not a runner and in my early 20s I felt like I had to be because that’s what people were doing. After almost passing out in 102 degree heat during a 10k I signed up for 2 years ago, I told myself I would never run again. Jokes on me. I have tried so many times to run on a treadmill but I made excuses like my knees hurt or I have flat feet and make loud noises or I hate running, I’d rather bike or do strength training....this week I did a 30 min mix of walk-in, jogging and running spurts on the treadmill. My first time since 2 years ago. It was a big step for me and made me realize I am not as worried about it anymore, which is good!
2) I did a 20 minute swim (after not swimming for 2 months) and did more laps than I thought I could do with minimum stops-28 laps! I know I can improve but the fact that I did it and did more than I thought I could made me thrilled!
3) I made my 5 day workout commitment. Only about 30 minutes each but I followed through with the plan I set last week.
Cheers to the weekend and being proud of these small steps in being healthy, creating a good routine and starting to prep for Triathlon training come January :) #careforyourself#fitness#fitnessjourney#wellness#wellnessjourney#strengthtraining#bekindtoyourself#loveyourself#selflove#selfcare#tiuchicago#tiuteam#proud#chitone#bebold#bebrave#bekind#smallsteps#alwaystrying#firsttriathlon
“DID YOU CATCH THAT THOUGH?!”
😳😫 Face at the end of the end of the first video is everything right now.
This week has been the most testing week of my entire life, and out of NOWHERE my body randomly decides to pull a press-to-handstand.
Without rhyme of reason.
OK, HELL YEAH MEGAN?????
I haven’t been able to do one of these guys since 9th grade. I could literally cry.
It’s not perfect. It’s not even KIND OF pretty. But it proves how much work has been put in, even through all the madness that has been put in my path the past few days. None of it mattered in that tiny, little, sliver of a moment.
Yooooo, no lie, one thing I’ve learned as a personal trainer and whole “adulting”, being on your own in NYC thing while switching careers and flipping your life upside down.....(literally and figuratively)🙃 Is that it is NOT easy. Liiiiiiife is not easy.
I don’t think it’s meant to be.
How else would we learn? How would we ever get better if we didn’t work through the messy, ugly parts, ya know?
I hope you notice all of the small, tiny details. Like the one I did just now.
Those small things are the ones that matter the most. The surprising things that SHOW you, no matter what may be happening, you’re getting better in the smallest way.

Practicing Gratitude is a new thing for me. At first I found it to be a little strange to say these things out loud or write them down. I’m not sure if it was because this was just a new step in my routine or whether I was just saying the words but not actually meaning them?? Now, I wake up 1 hour earlier, make my coffee and create space in my mornings which includes recognising what I’m grateful for. I also list 3 things (just 3 - no more) that I want to achieve today and this ensures I have a purpose and a sense of accomplishment. I know as mums there are a million and one things we can be doing, however, by recognising and focusing on the top 3 it really helps to centre me for my day and finish on a positive note rather than beating myself up about what I didn’t get done. Try it. I’m 2 weeks into this new routine and have started feeling so much better & a lot more positive! #gratitude#wild_oats_#dailyroutine#positive#mentalhealth#family#smallsteps#createspace
Hi to all of our new friends! Thank you so much for passing the word a long to your friends and family! We are loving to see this community build. I wanted to talk about small steps and why they are important. As you go through your weekend remember these words!
small steps every day...
Bring a calm to the storm around me. As I prepare for the Health Summit, do life in general, hear the world news, live life with family and friends, and smack dab in the middle of the holiday season, it can bring a LOT of emotion and chaos! It can be overwhelming....yet a small step toward being loving through out my day even if I don't feel like it, and taking "micro" rest steps, and setting up camp sites on this CLIMB to the SUMMIT, to breathe and take in the beauty of the day re-sets my mind, and I feel joy, and I am not overwhelmed, I see progress, and I embrace the relationships around me....small steps are do-able...enjoy your day today! #templetough#healthsummit#auburn#sacramento#smallsteps#youcandothis#strongwomen#health#spirit#mind#body
Hello, and welcome to a space dedicated to those who seek to not just live with depression and anxiety, but to thrive and achieve all they want while having depression and anxiety. In this space I will share things that have helped me through my rough patches, thoughts and discussions about mental illness and inspirations. I am not a doctor, I am however a registered nurse with education and Licensure on matters of health. I can give advice but ultimately one should talk to their doctor about medical decisions. Social media and the internet can be a very toxic place. This is a place intended to be free of judgement and negativity. In efforts to protect the mental health of those who follow, any negativity will be deleted and those users blocked. People come here for help with their problems not too have salt poured in their wounds. I hope these messages help those who are in dark places and need a positive light to follow. #depression#anxiety#heal#smallsteps#simplethings#strongerthanmydemons#takecontrol#selfcare#depressionandanxietytamed
How often do you challenge yourself?
They don’t have to be huge, just something to put you out of your comfort zone.
On Sunday I hiked a very big hill (800m ascent) on the western edge of the Sierra Nevada, Spain. I love to hike but this was a challenge, continuous uphill with numerous switch-backs for over 2 hours. By the final half hour I’d had enough and could quite happily have turned around and headed back. This wasn’t my body telling me I needed to do this, it was the little voice in my head which likes to upset my intention and steal my achievement. I’m so glad I blocked that voice out because not only was the view worth every minute, felt great because I had stuck with it and come out on top (literally😊). You (and that voice) are the only ones preventing you from achieving your goals, whatever they may be. If you need help to achieve your health and well-being goals I am here to help. It is easier realise your dreams when you have help and accountability so don’t put off your success a moment longer, get in touch, take that first step!
Every day, every hour, every moment of your life, you face a choice. The choices you make everyday that don’t seem to matter actually matter most. The small steps you take day by day have the greatest impact on you. Be encouraged, it’s never too late to change you’re small steps! #littlethingsmatter#smallsteps#legendary
***Long Honesty Post*** Over the past couple of weeks I have found myself becoming increasingly stressed, anxious and overwhelmed with the amount of 'stuff' I need to get done. All of which has started dragging me back to the black hole that I haven't long managed to drag myself out of. The hole where existence is well, just existing and nothing else.
So last night when I should have been working on my website or making a birthday card or prepping for classes or doing washing or packing bags I CHOSE to make a head warmer. I CHOSE to take a few hours of selfcare and prioritise myself instead of all the 'stuff'. And that is what is going to keep me away from the edge of the black hole. Awareness and consciously choosing to step back and accept that we cannot do everything and we have to take our time.
Is it pretty? is it fashionable? is it perfect? None of that is as important as the fact that I took the time out, rested my mind and made it with my own hands.
• Think about what you are •
You are unique. You are a collection of feelings, memories, experiences, and passions that individualize you. You have something in you that no one else does and once you find it, allow it to set your soul on fire. Stop dreaming and start doing. Start with one small task everyday and slowly add tasks as you become more comfortable. Eventually, you’ll be bounding with confidence, productivity, and yes... Contentment .
What drives you? The fight against stigma drives me and helps me combat the demons I face each and every day. I have learned to redirect my pain and sadness into positive outreach. Take the leap.
It's #focusfriday! What are you focusing on?
Small wins are progress points on your way to your goal. For example, let's say your main goal is to get out of debt. This can be a daunting and discouraging task because it involves a lot of moving parts. Focusing on small wins helps you break down a large goal into manageable chunks.

May you wake
To kind thoughts.
Move with compassion.
Rest with intent.
With what you can do.
For what you cannot
And feel love
For your body.
Let it spread
Like the morning sun;
You are alive.
Acknowledge the birdsong
Outside your window.
To welcome the day.
At the door.
And with your steps
Just do your best
With no regrets.
I'm switching my phone off this weekend, so let these be my parting words until Monday. I'm taking this quiet time to re-center and look after myself. The past month has been a bit of a rollercoaster. My body is seeking stillness & nourishment; I'm listening and honouring it's request. 🌸
Thank you Fitbit AND StepBet for making me the living room jogging champ I’ve always wanted to be!
Anyone else find themselves pacing to get their steps in?!
